13:35 Ascot – Badri
BADRI just didn’t seem to fire for Julie Camacho and subsequently dropped a good way in the handicap. His first try for this team was a really good effort up at Hamilton and he looks the only one who is well handicapped. He’s also got some strong form in the book at this venue.
14:10 Ascot – Sheradann
SHERADANN hasn’t been with the Ian Williams team for that long and ran by far his best race last time for the squad was an eye-catching effort at Goodwood> Given natural progression he has to be high on the list looking as if the step up in distance is ideal for this stamina-laden runner.
14:25 Haydock – Theme Park
THEME PARK looked as if the front runners would hold sway at York last time, but he ran out of his skin from the back of the pack, to defy the draw bias. He’s only been raised a little nudge by the assessor and with the likes of Kilt guaranteed to be over-bet, Theme Park with his unexposed profile, looks to be a reasonable price.
14:45 Ascot – Set Point
SET POINT looked really good when winning the Ladies Derby on home soil, challenging down the centre of the track with the front two, and pulling a good way clear. He’s relatively lightly raced at this level and he’s looking to exploit his current mark in this discipline for the excellent Irish trainer Gordon Elliott.
15:00 Haydock – Brackens Laugh
In receipt of a massive weight-for-age allowance this can go to the only youngster in the lineup in BRACKENS LAUGH. He was highly regarded in the early part of the campaign and didn’t run badly from a pretty poor position at the Royal meeting. He’s had a wind operation and can be expected to get back on track in what is a cracking renewal of this contest.
15:20 Ascot – Jarraaf
JARRAAF looked like the sprinter to follow when dropping back down to this course and distance last time in an emphatic victory against the older opposition. He now drops back down into his age bracket, and despite a rise in the weights from the assessor, he’s the one who could quickly make it up into a Group-class performer.
15:40 Newmarket – Liberalised
LIBERALISED put up an eye-catching display when only eight behind Mountain Breeze over a furlong shorter at this venue. She was flat to the boards the whole way and only started to make inroads to the leaders in the final 75 yards, suggesting she is definitely going to benefit from the extra distance and can turn that form around at a decent price.
15:55 Ascot – Dambuster
DAMBUSTER looked like a true stayer in the making on his return at Beverley, getting on top over 10 furlongs late in the day, but was an expensive failure last time. The team had no explanation for his poor showing and they go up an extra quarter mile in trip as they reach for the visor for this unexposed runner He’s likely to give Solomon plenty to think about.
16:30 Ascot – Silent Film
SILENT FILM has been an eye-catcher on his last couple of outings up the hill at Sandown. He was fifth at Goodwood and was in amongst the runners all dressed up with nowhere to go. He doesn’t look overly burdened from a ratings perch of 97, and in a race that is likely to be run at a decent gallop, he can be produced fast and late.
16:45 Haydock – American Arrow
Saffy Osborne has swerved the opportunity to ride in the Shergar Cup meeting at Ascot and rides the filly AMERICAN ARROW at Haydock instead. She was super impressive on her racecourse debut over 7 furlongs here, the extra yardage is going to be in her favour. She needs to put up another impressive display if she is to take up her top-level entry in the Sun Chariot Stakes come October.
