14:30 – Little Boy Blue

LITTLE BOY BLUE is now a nine-year-old, but has proved at least as good as ever so far this season, making a winning return over seven furlongs at Epsom last month, and was pressed too hard, so ended up doing too much too soon over the same course and distance last time.

The switch to this smaller field will help and he may take some beating if adopting the same positive tactics. Local Bay, who should be arriving with a strong late run, looks the most likely danger.

15:00 – Praetorian

PRAETORIAN has shown plenty to work on in three starts so far, improving with each run, and was unlucky to bump into an above-average newcomer in a big-field novice event at York last time. It’s hard to fault that effort, looking the likeliest winner for much of the contest and he found an excellent opportunity to deservedly open his account now. Graduated, who displayed ability on her debut at Doncaster, looks the obvious danger.

15:30 – Oj Lifestyle

OJ LIFESTYLE looked potentially useful when opening his account at the second attempt in a good-looking maiden at Newbury in 2022 (defying odds of 125/1) and, while he hasn’t quite progressed as expected since, he finds himself on an attractive career-low mark of 65.

This will also be the weakest race he’s contested, so he may be worth chancing, even dropping back to a mile and fitted with first-time blinkers. The well-treated Gallimimus is a danger and Marsh Benham has to be considered for all that he’s not the most straightforward.

16:00 – Zhang Fei

ZHANG FEI was fairly useful on the Flat when trained by Paul & Oliver Cole and arrives fresh from a success in a handicap hurdle over an extended two miles at Newton Abbot 18 days ago.

He had plenty in hand on that occasion, and is potentially well treated back on the Flat on the pick of his efforts, so he makes a fair bit of appeal over a trip he has winning form at. In-form pair Bletchley Storm and Lexington Knight are both obvious threats.

16:30 – Temur Khan

This isn’t a great race but the preference is for TEMUR KHAN, who isn’t getting any younger, but he is a four-time course and distance winner, and he ran his best race of the year when resuming winning ways in a similar event at Lingfield last time. This contest doesn’t look any stronger and he looks the one to beat at the weights. Foinix and Irezumi can also make their presence felt.

17:00 – Tres Chic

TRES CHIC won back-to-back handicaps at Leicester and Salisbury earlier in the season and she has held her form relatively well since. She ran up to her best over an extended mile back at Leicester last time and a reproduction of that effort will see her be competitive now dropping into classified company. Hawajes and River Wharfe are a couple of others worth considering.
