17:30 – Bennetot (each-way) (Ireland)
Bennetot (each-way) hadn’t shown a great deal since being shipped over from France for the David O’Meara team but he did start off with an inflated rating of 97. He now sits perched a long way down on 84 and his last two runs were encouraging at Ripon and Ascot. He looks in each-way player now lining up for a decent pot.
18:00 – Lahab (Yorkshire)
Lahab is only having his second try for the Michael Wigham stable and he certainly caught the eye under a smooth hands and heels ride at Chester just 12 days ago. The race is loaded with pace so it should suit his hold-up style and Michael was successful in the Racing League last week.
18:30 – Gis A Sub (The North)
Gis A Sub has tumbled down the handicap and took advantage over his favourite 6f a couple of runs ago. He was outpaced down over the minimum 5f trip last time and a return to this trip on a track that should suit can see him take advantage.
19:00 – Manila Scouse (each way) (Yorkshire)
Manila Scouse managed to win this off a marginally lower handicap mark last season. If we excuse his below-par run last time at York, he’s got to be of interest. We’ve got some old favourites lining up in here like Existent, who will be flashing from the back of the pack, but his losing run is now starting to stack up to make him unattractive as a punting proposition.
19:30 – Gangster Granny (Ireland)
I’m not saying Gangster Granny would’ve won with a clear passage, but she certainly would’ve got a bit closer to Walter Hartright, who was allowed his own way up on the front end at Yarmouth last time. She is now a good bit better off in the weights and granted a bit more of an even tempo throughout, she can turn that form around.
20:00 – Financer (Yorkshire)
Financer had looked good at Redcar and Haydock and probably was a little unlucky to bump into another in-form rival in Prometeo in his bid for a hat-trick at Doncaster. He gets the weight-for-age allowance in this line-up and that can swing it back in his favour for another victory.
20:30 – Aalto (Wales & The West)
Aalto put up a super performance when winning the Bunbury Cup on the July course at HQ and he ran an absolute cracker last time when not beaten too far in the International Stakes at Ascot. He was short of room at a vital stage and that just interrupted his final finishing position. He remains in decent form and on a realistic mark.
