GRECIAN LEGACY made an encouraging start to his career when runner-up at Doncaster a couple of weeks ago and, with improvement anticipated, he gets the vote to provide the in-form Kubler stable with another winner.
Archie’s Dream is a half-brother to numerous winners, including a smart sort in Ashadihan, and he represents a leading northern stable. He is an interesting newcomer and can give the selection most to do.
14:50 – Rain Cap
RAIN CAP had been disappointing on a couple of occasions but took a step back in the right direction when fifth in a handicap at Hamilton last time, keeping on inside the final furlong without ever posing a threat.
He’s a four-time course winner at this venue, so is clearly effective around this tight track, and he might be able to capitalise on the drop in grade into classified company.
15:25 – Zephlyn
ZEPHLYN was in good form on the all-weather earlier this year – he won at Newcastle and Southwell and was also runner-up at those venues – and he proved his effectiveness on turf when only narrowly denied at Musselburgh a couple of weeks ago.
He’s edged up only 1 lb for that short-head defeat and ought to give another good account with Jason Hart, who was aboard for Zephlyn’s two wins earlier in the year, taking over again in the saddle.
16:00 – Quercus
QUERCUS failed to beat a rival on his first couple of starts this season but he proved much more competitive last time when beaten only half a length (all three starts over this course and distance).
Quercus has edged up only 1 lb for his latest effort which means that he is only 1 lb above his last winning mark. He can launch a bold bid in his pursuit of a sixth course-and-distance success.
16:35 – Twoforthegutter
TWOFORTHEGUTTER registered back-to-back wins in Hamilton handicaps in June and he ran creditably when third chasing the hat-trick at that venue last month.
Twoforthegutter shaped as if still in form in a race in which those held up struggled to land a blow, and he looks likely to give another good account off the same mark here.
17:10 – Three Beauz
A few of these have something to prove but THREE BEAUZ arrives on the back of a win at Newcastle and looks capable of following up.
She failed to beat a rival on her first three starts this season but, with a tongue strap applied for the first time, she returned to form and scored by three-quarters of a length after travelling with enthusiasm. She’s only 3 lb higher here and, with the tongue tie unsurprisingly retained, she gets the vote.
