14:10 – Just Hiss
JUST HISS won this race off the same mark 12 months ago and can strike again. He was disappointing at Haydock on his penultimate start but bounced back to form when only denied by a nose at Nottingham last month. That form was given a boost when the winner followed up on his next outing and he remains fairly treated after edging up 1 lb.
14:40 – End Of Romance
END OF ROMANCE is a half-brother to three winners, most notably the high-class Romantic Warrior who is a multiple Group 1 winner in Hong Kong and also won the Cox Plate in Australia. He is in excellent hands with Karl Burke, who has sent out more two-year-old winners than any other trainer in Britain this season, and he’s an interesting newcomer.
15:10 – Godsend
GODSEND has progressed well this summer and made it three wins from his last four starts when bolting up at Ffos Las last week. He effectively settled the race in a matter of strides, when quickening three furlongs out, and coasted home for most of the closing stages, winning by a couple of lengths. He can keep improving for a while and should be difficult to beat under a 6 lb penalty in this step up in trip unlikely to pose a problem. Yorkindness has been below her best this season but is falling in the weights and has a good record at this course so can chase the selection home.
15:40 – Zozimus
ZOZIMUS is on a losing run that stretches back to 2020 but he has largely been running well this season and is on a good mark so he’s taken to register an overdue success. Beaten by less than a length and a half in fifth at York last time, he can perhaps have that effort upgraded, as he was further back than ideal in a race run at a steady pace. He’s able to run off a 2 lb lower mark here and can capitalise.
16:10 – Catch Cunningham
CATCH CUNNINGHAM impressed with how he went through the race and readily he settled matters when successful at Newmarket on Saturday. That was his best effort, and second win, since joining Michael Herrington from Kevin Ryan ahead of this season and he looks up to defying a 5 lb penalty if coping with the quick turnaround. Soul Seeker was only narrowly denied on his penultimate start, and shaped as if still in form when fifth at Beverley last time, and he appeals as the main danger.
16:40 – Formidable Force
FORMIDABLE FORCE was gelded ahead of his handicap debut at Lingfield in June and showed improved form to get off the mark, coping well with the drop back in trip to six furlongs. He proved strong in the finish to forge a length and three-quarters clear close to home and, with the potential of more to come, he still looks fairly treated off a 7 lb higher mark.
