14:05 – Aurora Vega

This race revolves around the hurdling debutant AURORA VEGA. A half-sister to Facile Vega, she has smart form in bumpers and Willie Mullins’ mare will be hard to beat if taking to this discipline. Folly Beach has the best hurdles form in the race and she could be the one to benefit if the favourite fluffs her lines. Jana Colombe is nicely bred and could improve on her first start over timber. Firm Belief and Ballinvir Rose are worth keeping an eye on in the market.

14:35 – Spy

Cases can be made for plenty but one would think that SPY, who has run well on the Flat a few times this year, has a race or two in him over hurdles. He came home well when sixth at Killarney last month in what was his first completed start in handicaps. Major Barry has got his act together lately but dropping in trip may count against him and last-time-out winners Flidais and Mary’s Pride may be more of a threat. Makfils, not at his best last time, also enters calculations off a handy weight.

15:05 – Impakt St Georges

This is not the strongest of races. IMPAKT ST GEORGES showed enough to suggest he could win a race like this at Wexford last time out and Mary Ellen Doyle has a decent record in maiden hurdles. Confidential Gosip hails from a strong yard but it remains to be seen if this trip will suit. Huntsgrove might improve on his first run back from a break and could be a danger. Fast Felix is another one with claims if the hood ekes out a bit more.

15:35 – Lispendense

A bumper winner and fair performer on the level, LISPENDENSE may be able to do something now sent handicapping. He’s lightly raced for his age and should enjoy a relatively sound surface. Kilbeggan winner Onefortheditch is open to further improvement and Ask Cillian, who has a leading jockey on board, comes into it on the strength of her second over farther at Ballinrobe in May.

16:05 – The Striker Dylan (NAP)

Having shown improved form when well supported at Wexford, THE STRIKER DYLAN (nap) can go one better with this longer trip likely to suit. Say It So has been in good heart under both codes and should be thereabouts while Moulane West comes into it after an improved run at Sligo on his last completed start and is on a favourable mark these days. A couple of handicap debutants to note are Market House and Cailin Aibrean.

16:35 – Saint Sam

The Willie Mullins-trained SAINT SAM is better known as a chaser these days but he won a Grade 2 chase at Gowran Park earlier this year and he should have too much class for these opponents now reverting to hurdles. Beacon Edge has been a grand servant to connections and he is the biggest danger. Tag Man is relatively unexposed over hurdles and he completes the shortlist.

17:05 – King Ferdinand

A case can be made for plenty of these. Ta Na La won a mares’ maiden at Bellewstown in good fashion last time but this could be a tougher proposition. Harley Street and Aussie Warrior both shaped nicely at Galway and they have chances if building on those efforts. However, preference is for KING FERDINAND. He was beaten a head over C&D last year and his form figures at Cork read 22. He likely needed the run last time and should go close for his local yard off just 2lb higher. Betty Dutton and Gabriel Ranger are others to note.

17:35 – King Peak

Of those with form, Ballysax Hank looks to have the best credentials and has each-way claims but this is likely to go to a newcomer and KING PEAK, from a prolific family which includes lots of bumper winners, is the selection. Joseph O’Brien’s Walk On The Beach, hooded for debut, and Champagne Mal, from a smaller yard whose recent bumper runners have been performing well, merit respect too.
