13:50 – Riyami

Neveradullmoment is one I really respect as he has a strong course record but I’m with Riyami, who is still only a five-year-old. He is rated 78 on the Flat and while his best form is at Dundalk, he is effective on turf. He’s had three quiet runs in maiden hurdles and was a fine fifth of 23 on his handicap debut at Leopardstown at Christmas behind Ataboycharlie, who is now rated 17lbs higher. He finished second at Kilbeggan last month off a mark of 102 and he appeared to find 2m 4f a bit tough. He had a spin on the Flat on Wednesday to get ready for this.

14:20 – Party Business

At first glance, you’d readily dismiss Party Business but it was only in April that he was beaten 5.5 lengths in a Cheltenham handicap hurdle. Both of his runs after that were much stronger than this and despite three no shows since, the handicapper has dropped him to 123 and he gets to run off 120 here. This has been the plan for a while and Danny Gilligan takes off 3lb which is an extra bonus. You just wouldn’t want too much rain to get into the ground before this race.

14:55 – Easy Game

Easy Game will have to concede weight but anything below Grade 1 level with small fields are his thing. In 2021, he was a length second in the Plate off a mark of 157 but was well beaten in the three renewals since, including earlier this week. Previous to that, he easily beat Saint Sam at Listowel. He is rated 158 and his record in single figure fields away from Grade 1 level in the last three years is 1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,4,1. Janadil is a danger if the cash arrives for him.

15:30 – Barnacullia (each-way) (NAP)

Barnacullia is a fair hurdler who had some solid form in that discipline. He dipped his toe in some graded novice chases but wasn’t up to that level, though he wasn’t disgraced either. He hasn’t run over fences since last year and he was narrowly beaten here off a much lower hurdles mark last October. He prepped earlier in the week on the Flat to get ready for this when finishing a respectable sixth.

16:00 – No More Porter

No More Porter was there or thereabouts in most of his starts last year off marks in the low to mid 80’s. He was just touched off at the Curragh on his reappearance in June off a mark of 82 over a mile in a premier handicap and that is strong form. Any rain would suit him as he is pretty effective on soft ground and 7f is no issue. He placed in strong handicaps at the Curragh and Naas last year over 7f, as well as in the Scurry handicap over 6.5f at the Curragh. Adrian McGuinness has a cracking record in this with Current Option winning it three times.

16:30 – Saint Brandon (each-way)

Green Brothers ran nicely on his debut at Leopardstown and he can go well but I like Saint Brandon. Natalia Lupini is an underrated trainer and did a fine job with Kitty Rose as a juvenile last year. Saint Brandon was a fair fifth on his debut at Fairyhouse over 6f and the second Lethimfly won next time out. The step up to 7f is going to suit him and I would be chancing him each-way if the price allows.

17:00 – Presence

Presence was sent off favourite on her handicap debut at Down Royal and was only beaten a length and a half. She was an easy winner of a maiden at Ballinrobe over 9f when getting soft ground for the first time. A strongly run mile will suit and any rain will help her cause and while drawn in stall 14, I don’t think it is that much of a negative.

17:30 – Live Aid

Live Aid is a half sister to Freedom Beel, who was a listed winner on the Flat in Italy. Emmett Mullins is always to be respected, especially with amateur jockey John Gleeson booked to ride
