Jason Weaver’s ITV Tips
13:50 – Goodwood – Phantom Flight
14:05 – Newmarket – Ghost Run (each-way)
14:25 – Goodwood – Dancing In Paris (each-way)
14:40 – Newmarket – Place Of Safety
15:00 – Goodwood – Melo Melo
15:35 – Goodwood – Ramazan (each-way)
13:50 – Goodwood – Phantom Flight
He put up an improved display at Newbury on his first try for the new trainer, with that victory coming over 10 furlongs in a sprint finish. Phantom Flight looks like he could well improve again for the return to 12 furlongs, it looks a strong possibility that the team have found the key to him.
14:05 – Newmarket – Ghost Run (each-way)
Has a very decent sprinting pedigree that the trainer Andrew Balding knows particularly well and there is every reason to think GHOST RUN can step up on her victory last time at Newbury where she managed to make all and held on in gutsy fashion. She has been handed a mark of 81 which looks very realistic.
14:25 – Goodwood – Dancing In Paris (each-way)
He wasn’t suited by the ‘sit and sprint’ at Newbury over 1m 2f last time, and provided they go a gallop we can bring some more of his stamina into play over this 1m 6f trip. He’s also reunited with a jockey, David Probert, who gets a particularly good tune of him. I’d expect DANCING IN PARIS to sit a touch handier to the leaders this time.
14:40 – Newmarket – Place Of Safety
With her stablemate Lmay likely to start favourite, we’re going to take a flyer with PLACE OF SAFETY. She looked very professional but still sure to improve with the dominant display at Kempton last time striding away in the closing stages when realising what was required. She goes up in distance and is a big powerful improver from the Gosdens’ outfit.
15:00 – Goodwood – Melo Melo
Already has some Group One form in the book in France and MELO MELO has continued to impress with her attitude under very different conditions. A likely improver now trying much quicker conditions for the first time, her trainer F-H Graffard is having a real purple patch at present.
15:35 – Goodwood – Ramazan (each-way)
The 6f Stewards Cup should suit RAMAZAN (each-way) who has quite a bit of strong form in heritage handicaps over this trip including an excellent try in the Ayr Gold Cup last season. He was run down late on after forcing the issue from the get-go by Significantly who came from well off the pace to nut him on the line. The drop in trip again to 6f now and the removal of the visor – which has made him far too aggressive in his last couple of races – will help his cause.
