Horse Racing Tips: Friday’s Glorious Goodwood Cheat Sheet for the action on ITV

It's Day 4 of the 2024 Festival and we're calling on the big hitters to deliver.

The champagne corks have been popping all week at Glorious Goodwood and don’t expect that to change on Day 4 of the Festival.

With Paddy not picking up his phone to give us his tips, and Ruby Walsh joining him in going AWOL as the sunshine and heatwave continues, we’ve been left with five stellar tipsters for Friday’s four races live on ITV.

Matt Chapman, Jason Weaver, Rory Delargy, Mick Fitzgerald have all done their duty, and for the final two days at Goodwood have been joined by chief number-cruncher from the trading room floor Ryan McCue.

Our fab five mull over the feature race of the day – the King George Stakes – at 15:35, as well as the three others before that, the Goodwood Handicap (13:50), Thoroughbred Stakes (14:25) and Golden Mile (15:00) on the tellybox.

So, tap or scroll down through the races below and check out our pundits’ Friday fancies. You can also use our PDF Goodwood Cheat Sheet instead!

Temporize did me a right favour at Newbury last time when scoring at 10-1, however, I’m going with ROBERT JOHNSON as the each-way selection. This extreme trip is what he wants and comes in at a racing weight of 8st 12lb.

Jason Weaver

MASTER MILLINER managed to win this 2m 4f marathon contest two years ago. Although he has not pulled up any trees since we know that stamina is his key asset and is a each-way shout.

Rory Delargy

TEMPORIZE comes in here on the crest of a wave and will be very hard to kick out of the frame over this 2m 4f trip. He’s straight-forward, races up with the pace and stays all day.

Trader

TEMPORIZE is 10lbs higher than when winning this race last year but he’s held his form since. The fact he’s a course and distance winner is a major positive.

Mick Fitzgerald

I want a horse that races up with the pace and TEMPORIZE fits the bill. He won at Newbury last time out and his running style makes him a safer pick than Kyle Of Lochalsh.

Matt Chapman

I’ve long been a massive fan of LEAD ARTIST and I’m happy to give him another go after a flop at Newmarket when last seen. Hopefully he will show us what he is made of on faster ground.

Jason Weaver

TASK FORCE has always been highly regarded and ran well in the Middle Park Stakes at the back end of his juvenile career. Looks ready for the mile test on this sharp track.

Rory Delargy

DANCING GEMINI interests me back over a mile. He didn’t stay the Epsom Derby distance over 1m 4f and the drop in class and trip can see him return to his best.

Trader

SOCIALITE won on his first two starts and he’s beaten the reopposing King’s Gamble before. If he settles quickly, he’s a solid each-way shout.

Mick Fitzgerald

I really like AL MUSMAK. His win at Newmarket last time out was no fluke and he can win again.

Matt Chapman

HOLLOWAY BOY has always had some quirks, but he has now put up a string of fine handicapping performances off this mark of 105. There is no doubt that he has the talent. Strong each-way claims.

Jason Weaver

TALIS EVOLVERE has flown under the radar considering he’s been keeping top handicap company over a variety of distances. The draw hasn’t been kind but he could surprise a few as an each-way shot.

Rory Delargy

DARKNESS was fourth in this contest last year and won well at Newmarket two starts back before a credible fifth in the Bunbury Cup.

Trader

CLASSIC disappointed at Sandown last time out but I’m putting that down to the soft ground. He’s going to get better ground at Goodwood on Friday and that will suit him as a great each-way bet.

Mick Fitzgerald

PEROTTO is very solid and he’s a safe each-way shout. He’s a course winner and consistent. You know what you’re going to get from him.

Matt Chapman

I’m happy to give the 2023 Nunthorpe winner LIVE IN THE DREAM another chance, provided he blasts out on the front end. This track should suit his natural speed.

Jason Weaver

This has always been the long-term aim for the Australian team and ASFOORA‘s victory at Royal Ascot was a bonus. Connections think she’s better over this 5f distance.

Rory Delargy

BIG EVS won here last year and the faster ground will help. He’s all speed and was just outstayed at Royal Ascot. Goodwood should suit him better.

Trader

BIG EVS finished third behind Asfoora in the King Charles at Royal Ascot but I fancy him to reverse the form. He tried to do it all that day and got caught.

Mick Fitzgerald

I can’t get how easily ASFOORA won the King Charles Stakes at Royal Ascot out of my head. I fancy the Australian runner to win again.
