There is due to be a little bit of rain around before racing gets underway on Thursday. On the basis that it’s going to be on the easy side of good, I’ll go with MIDNIGHT GUN.

He’s well bred and won a Nottingham novice before his Newmarket handicap success. He’s been bought by Wathnan Racing and has switched to Hamad Al Jehani since.

He’s got a decent draw in stall four and he’s got a lot going for him.

14:25 The Strikin Viking

THE STRIKIN VIKING has been brilliant on his first two runs, and this doesn’t come too quickly for him. The rain won’t affect him, and although he’s a short price, I’d be astonished if he’s beaten.

15:00 Jan Brueghel

JAN BRUEGHEL has only had two starts, and he’s won both. I’m not too sure there’s anything else to come from his rivals.

It’s hard to imagine the selection not improving, considering his pedigree. The biggest concern is his lack of experience. He deserves to be the favourite.

15:35 Opera Singer

I was against OPERA SINGER and with Porta Fortuna in the Coronation Stakes at Ascot, but this 1m2f trip changes my mind.

I don’t fancy Emily Upjohn, so that leaves Aidan O’Brien’s runner.
