You want to back horses that are drawn wide here. You look at the shape of the Galway track and people say you’ve got to be close to the rail.

The way this race is run, it’s real hell for leather stuff, people want to get handy and close to the rail, they always go too hard and its the horses who are able to get a clear path who win it.

It’s a great race for forecasts and tricasts. That’s the way I’ll be looking at it.

Nothing lower than 10 getting in the frame over the last few years, it’s set up nicely for a horse who’ll ideally be able to hold position in midfield.

You don’t always want to be coming from a furlong behind, although some horses do on occasion.

BOOYEA is a fairly obvious one, I like the way he won at the Curragh recently. He was on the rail that day and had to pull out between horses for a run and showed guts. He stays a mile and a quarter so this’ll be ideal for him.

SCHOLARSHIP is interesting too. He’s a bit of a monkey, but he’s exactly the type of horse who’ll love the setup here. He was considered to be a Guineas prospect as a two-year-old when trained in the UK.

He’s stepped up on his earlier efforts when finishing second at the Curragh last time out, where he came through late and wide. He wore down a bit in the end, though, after looking like he was going to win.

He’s well-handicapped and tricky, and although not guaranteed to get a run, if he does sneak in, I’d be interested in backing him in forecasts or tricasts.
