Horse Racing Tips: Tuesday’s Glorious Goodwood Cheat Sheet for the action on ITV

It's Day 1 of the 2024 Festival and we've called on the big hitters to deliver.

It’s time for one of the highlights of the Flat season as all eyes will be on Glorious Goodwood this week.

We’ve got five days of thrilling action and what better way to celebrate the opening action on Tuesday with a classic Cheat Sheet for the ITV Racing coverage from Paddy?

The Group 1 Goodwood Cup Stakes takes centre stage on Tuesday (15:35), with Kyprios, who won this race back in 2022, hoping to win his fourth straight outing to scoop the £283,550 prize pot.

There’s also two Group 2 races to get stuck into, the Vintage Stakes (14:25) and the Lennox Stakes (15:00) and we’ve drafted in the best in the business to give you a hand.

What do Matt Chapman, Jason Weaver, Rory Delargy, Ruby Walsh and our good pal Mr (or is it Mrs?) Timeform all have in common? Yes, you got it in one – a boat load of horse racing knowledge.

Tap or scroll down through the races below to see who our pundits fancy on Tuesday – or tap here for that oh-so-shareable PDF version we all love!

Quite a lot of these are unlikely to be suited by fast ground but TONY MONTANA should get a good position from stall 12 and clearly has an each-way chance.

Jason Weaver

DUAL IDENTITY looks like a massive each-way player judged on his eye-catching performance at York and has been handed a decent inside starting position.

Rory Delargy

Two appeal to me. The 1m2f distance and the Goodwood track should suit AERION POWER under Ryan Moore.

SIR BUSKER has a win and two seconds at Goodwood and he’s a classy runner on his day.

Timeform

ENFJAAR might have even more to come after back-to-back wins in 2024 and can defy the handicapper again.

Matt Chapman

The one that will be very much suited to a step up in trip to this distance is AOMORI CITY for Godolphin, Charlie Appleby and William Buick.

Jason Weaver

THE PARTHENON has been taken out on a few occasions owing to the ground not being suitable, so let’s hope that the rain stays away and he gets his ideal conditions.

Rory Delargy

WOLF OF BADENOCH won on his debut at Doncaster and although he’s got a lot to find, his win was impressive. I’m open to backing him at a solid price.

Timeform

THE PARTHENON finished in style in a Gowran maiden (7f) 44 days ago, and is  clearly held in high regard his powerful stable.

Ruby Walsh

ELECTROLYTE has the best form in the race if you’re forgiving his last run in the July Stakes at Newmarket.

Matt Chapman

NOBLE DYNASTY is in great form and loves these conditions. He quickened up well to deny the disappointing Nostrum in the Group 3 Criterion at Newmarket last time, and this is a logical step up.

Jason Weaver

TIBER FLOW brings in a very enviable three from four over the long sprint distance, and has the profile of an improving older performer. It looks like he will have his ideal setup.

Rory Delargy

Kinross was disappointing in the July Cup at Newmarket last time out and although he could win, I’m with ENGLISH OAK. He’s progressive and connections believe they’ve got something special on their hands.

Timeform

KINROSS returns to a course and distance which has brought out the best in him and can land this Group 2 for a third time.

Ruby Walsh

I’m with TIBER FLOW for Tom Marquand and William Haggas. He’s a decent price and 7f suits him.

Matt Chapman

Most of the field would prefer softer ground, and KYPRIOS is easily the best horse in the race. He’s a star.

Jason Weaver

KYPRIOS has returned this season to just about his best, racking up three convincing wins. If there was a forecast bet, Gregory could probably chase him home.

Rory Delargy

KYPRIOS won the Ascot Gold Cup last month in a cracking race. He’s as good as he ever was and he’s as game as ever too.

Sweet William could follow him home.

Timeform

KYPRIOS looked back to his best when regaining the Ascot Gold Cup six weeks ago having missed the majority of last season, and he can do the same here having won a stronger renewal of this race 2 years ago.

Ruby Walsh

Unless they forget to load KYPRIOS, I don’t see how he loses! I can’t oppose him with Ryan Moore on board. He just gets the job done.
