16:50 Gaucher

I’m going to go with GAUCHER. He ran into Have I Got News For You at Kelbeggan recently, where he was too keen but still was free enough for Kieran Callaghan at Punchestown, where he jumped to his left and won, absolutely bolting in.

He’ll have too much for Instant Tendance who is rated 9lbs below, so Gaucher gets 4lbs on him. I’d go with Gaucher to win the Novice Hurdle for Paul Townend and Willie Mullins.

17:25 Thecompanysergeant

THECOMPANYSERGEANT had a cracking run in the Willowwarm Gold Cup behind Spillanes Tower at Fairyhouse at Easter. He was second to Ashdale Bob at Kilbeggan in June and was maybe a little bit disappointing when finishing second behind Bowmore at Tipperary at the start of the month, who you’d have expected him to beat.

But, that’s all good form, and he’ll have his supporters here. He’s running in the County Meath colours for Willie Mullins, he’ll be hard to beat.

18:00 Marazion

It’s probably a three-horse race here. I like MARAZION here, a fine, big filly, although I did think she looked kind of green when behind Lake Victoria at the Curragh in June. Other horses that ran in that race have done well since. Red Letter has gone on to win since then, and So To Bed and Valencia, who also both ran in that race and have done well since, so I can see Marazio improving here for Jessie Harrington and Shane Foley.

18:40 Yaxchilan

I’d be surprised if Chris Hayes gets as far back here as he did at Navan, and I’d be surprised, too, if he’s not a little quicker to catch hold of YAXCHILAN. He was definitely an eye-catcher at Navan, and it looks like this has been his target for a while.

19:10 Old Faithful (each-way)

OLD FAITHFUL ran really well as Ascot behind Hand Of God and came back to Leopardstown and finished second behind Longbourn. Came from off the pace under Ryan Moore in a nine-furlong handicap. It looked like he ran in behind Longbourn there and maybe, hung on the latch a bit.

That’s why I’m thinking that with plenty of horses in front of him, he’d be a good each-way shout. When he starts passing horses up the hill and horses slowing in front of him, I think that could really ignite Old Faithful.

19:45 Alpha Capture

ALPHA CAPTURE has a 3lb penalty for winning at Kilarney under Colin Keane for Willie Mullins. He’s an ex-William Haggis horse. He’s definitely improved since his run at the Curragh in June, and I reckon he’s even improved since that win at Killarney. Hopefully, he’ll climb the hill well.

20:15 Clear Quartz

CLEAR QUARTZ should have a good price. I think he has a bit of Galway form for Mark Fahey. He ran here at the end of last year, coming in behind Kinda Tiny off a mark of 70. He’s not had a run since April, but when you get a horse for a course, you get a feeling that Mark Fahey might have had this race picked out from a long way back.
