So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets) today. The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the Table. Let’s get to the picks…
14:25 Ascot – Tactician (Spotlight)
The two best options may well be at the top and bottom of the card, with bottom weight TACTICIAN (nap) preferred after his close call over 1m 6f here last time. Made his debut in May and improved for a clear cut maiden win when upped in trip at Goodwood in June; hot favourite for handicap debut last time out here, but was held off by a head; up 3lb but an appealing candidate for 2m and improvement.
15:45 Thirsk – Bestie (Racing Post)
Mainly disappointing sorts here but if the ground eases a little BESTIE has a decent chance on his stable debut with Yaajooz his most likely danger. In the frame on five occasions over 6f/7f on soft ground and AW for Adrian Keatley (also ran creditably in fifth over 8.5f at Nottingham last month). Poor run here last time (7f, good to firm) and withdrawn by current trainer on account of good to firm ground at Beverley on Monday, has a chance if ground eases and tongue-tie now tried.
16:20 Thirsk – Etoile Dalexandre (The Times)
It could be worth taking a chance on the unexposed ETOILE D’ALEXANDRE to make a winning start for her new yard on her first run in handicap company. Best of her three runs for Declan Carroll last season when 2l fourth in a York novice on her debut in June (5f, good to firm; first three all now rated in the eighties).
16:40 Kilbeggan – Grann’s Boy (Racing Post)
It was a major step forward from GRANN’S BOY when last seen over hurdles and he looks capable of going well after arriving here on the back of a career best Flat run. Left his first two hurdle runs behind with a close third at Tramore in April, possibly improving for better ground.
