17:55 Sandown – The Colorist

This has a very open look to it. Last year’s third Mrembo should be bang there again if breaking on terms while handicap debutant Twin Earth would be interesting should market vibes bode well. Another to bear in mind is THE COLORIST, who is having his first run on turf but this stiff finish could suit him well judged on his staying-on efforts in both his handicaps at Lingfield.

18:05 York – Red Force One

2022 winner RED FORCE ONE arrives on a four-timer and remains attractively handicapped. He earns the vote ahead of Valley Of Flowers, who was second in a big-field C&D handicap last time. Recent Doncaster winner Marbuzet is another to consider.

18:40 York – Praetorian

Having bumped into subsequent July Stakes runner-up Billboard Star when second at Newmarket last time, PRAETORIAN can go one better today. Impartiality was a close third on his recent debut at Ayr and is second choice ahead of Endeavouryourdream, who could relish the step-up in trip. Flamborough Head and Master Of Zest are open to improvement, while King Casper is an interesting newcomer.

19:05 Sandown – Cresent Lake

An open handicap may go to CRESCENT LAKE who is far more effective at this trip than the 1m4f over which he ran respectably last time. Whispering Royal is hard to knock after going down fighting over C&D three weeks ago, and back in fifth that day was Hurtle Wallop who ran his best race yet in the new hood and he should have been closer.

19:15 York – Bay Breeze

This is a step up in class for Runinwild, but he toyed with inferior opposition at Carlisle last time and shouldn’t be underestimated despite a 7lb hike. Rounday Park, Rayat, Good Earth, and Minnesota Lad are contenders, but the two to appeal most are Dicko The Legend and BAY BREEZE. The selection has been slightly underwhelming this season, but he’s on a dangerous mark, and cheekpieces could help sharpen him up. A return to positive tactics would probably be advantageous here, too.

19:50 York – Dora Milaje

The very lightly raced Ejaabiyah has entries in the Nassau Stakes and the Yorkshire Oaks, and has plenty of potential, although she may well be a short price today and her Listed second at Newbury in May hasn’t worked out. Preference is for DORA MILAJE, whose handicap win at Haydock last month reads very nicely, and she wasn’t seen to best effect on soft ground at Pontefract last time. Bolsena is another with a soft-ground excuse for her latest run, and she is the second choice based on the strength of her Listed second at Goodwood last month.

20:10 Sandown – Indemnity

The cheekpieces could be an interesting addition for INDEMNITY who was soon on the back foot after starting slowly when behind Whitcombe Rockstar on the AW last time. It’s worth bearing in mind that, on the back of his maiden win, he went off 13-8 that day, and he’s worth another chance on a stiff track that should suit him, as he’s proven over further than this. Good Karma could be the danger after showing more on his latest run as his 3yo promise is by no means forgotten.
