14:10 Seagolazo

SEAGOLAZO is bred to be sharp, and he has shown ability in two runs to date, improving as expected from his debut effort when third over seven furlongs at Haydock last time. He did well to finish as close as he did under the circumstances after interference left him with plenty of ground to make up.

He was beaten only by a couple of Charlie Appelby-trained horses, and he sets a good standard in this field with the prospect of even more to come. Wiltshire Lad offered something to work on at Doncaster and is the obvious threat in what looks like a potential match.

14:45 Grey Fable

GREY FABLE confirmed the promise of his debut for this yard when belatedly opening his account over this course and distance a fortnight ago, comfortably beating the reopposing Hot Team by two lengths. He made his challenge out wide on that occasion and still had plenty left to give in the closing stages, so he’s taken to confirm that form on revised terms.

Infinite Honour also comes here at the top of his game, though, and should provide a stern test, while Naturalia and Lincoln Rockstar also command plenty of respect.

15:20 Evocative Spark

EVOCATIVE SPARK hasn’t won for almost a year, but that victory did come at this course over slightly shorter, and he has run well to finish runner-up on his last two starts, the latest of those over this course and distance two weeks ago.

He was beaten only by a more unexposed three-year-old on that occasion and, given he goes particularly well at this track, he is taken to deservedly go one place better. Saturnalia is weighted to have a big say and heads the list of dangers, although both Dembe and Vince Le Prince seem likely to be on the premises.

16:05 Eye Of Dubai

EYE OF DUBAI got off the mark in comfortable fashion over seven furlongs at Catterick on his seasonal return and he is better drawn than when finishing third over this course and distance a fortnight ago. That was his first start since undergoing a breathing operation and 10 weeks off, so he is entitled to come on for that outing, and he is expected to be ridden more prominently this time, too from a good draw in stall 2.

The unexposed Warm Spell has been given a bit of time since catching the eye on his Newmarket reappearance in May and is second choice ahead of Balon d’Or, who finished a place ahead of the selection last time.

16:40 Ecclesiastical

ECCLESIASTICAL was a four-time winner last season – including over this course and distance – and he shaped well back at this venue when third in a course and distance handicap two weeks ago. If anything, he went off a touch too hard on that occasion and was headed in the final furlong.

He has again fared well with the draw and, now back down to his last winning mark, he may be worth chancing in an open handicap. The in-form Secret Mistral is another obvious player, and Count d’Orsay should be respected.

17:20 Accrual

ACCRUAL showed hardly anything on his debut, but he has taken a big step forward since, opening his account at Bath in June and looking a useful prospect when following up under a penalty at Wolverhampton earlier this month.

He didn’t shape badly on his handicap debut at Yarmouth last time, either; just edged out close home on softer ground than previously, and he remains unexposed as a handicapper. King of Tonga and the widest-drawn Nazron complete the shortlist.

17:50 More Thunder

MORE THUNDER has been going the right way with his three starts so far, challenging from further back than the pair that beat him when third at Newmarket last time, and the winner looked a well above-average newcomer.

An opening mark of 87 could very well underestimate him, so he is taken to resume winning ways as he makes his handicap debut. It still remains early days with his current yard for Theoryofeverything, and he is feared most, ahead of Grey Cuban.
