Horse Racing Tips: Rory Delargy’s Ascot & York fancies for the ITV races

Rory is all over Saturday's tellybox action and he's keen on Friendly Soul in the 14:25 at Ascot.

13.50 Ascot – Simmering (NAP)

SIMMERING caught the eye on her debut at York but she just needed the run. She followed that up by finishing second in the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot behind Fairy Godmother. I can see her going off as an even-money shot.

14.05 York – Bayraat

It’s and advantage to be drawn low and you want to be on the far side of the track. I like BAYRAAT, who is a solid each-way price. He’s had two runs this season which have been to get him fit and he should be ready to go. He’s well handicapped off a mark of 64 too.

14.25 Ascot – Friendly Soul

FRIENDLY SOUL is the best horse in the race based simply off talent. She won her first couple of runs and that form has held up. She went to York for the Musidora Stakes but there seemed to be a lack of confidence about how she’d handle the track and her ride suggested that.

She blew the bend and she was well beaten. She can’t go left-handed but she’s the best of these and I’ll take a chance on her for Kieran Shoemark and John & Thady Gosden.

14.40 York – Rock Opera

ROCK OPERA is an eye-catcher at the prices. He won a couple of races back at Doncaster and the race didn’t work out for him at York last time out. He’s a progressive sprinter and he’ll go well at a big price.

15.00 Ascot – Orazio & Carrytheone

If ORAZIO stays 7f, he might be the one to beat. He’s only ran over 6f and I’m not convinced stepping up in trip is the answer but it could prove a great move by Charlie Hills with William Buick on board.

CARRYTHEONE is short enough but I’ve liked him for his last few runs. His win at Newmarket in May was brilliant and he was well backed in the Buckingham Palace at Royal Ascot.

He finished third that day and followed that up with a fourth in the Bunbury Cup at Newmarket earlier this month. He’s well handicapped but given his running style of coming from the back, he’ll need a bit of luck!

15.15 York – Alflaila

Richard Kingscote and Sir Michael Stoute don’t have a brilliant record at York together which puts me off Passenger. ALFLAILA ran well in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes behind Auguste Rodin last time out and he has form at York. As long as they don’t go off to quick, he has a great chance. I have him as the best horse in the race.

15.40 Ascot – Auguste Rodin

This is a good looking King George. Luxembourg will likely sit right behind Hans Andersen, who will set a decent pace. AUGUSTE RODIN is unbeaten on quick ground and the ground should be good to firm this weekend. The 1m4f distance is fine for him and he’ll take plenty of beating. Connections will make sure the race is set up perfectly for him.
