There are two Irish cards tonight with jumps at Wexford and a flat meeting at Leopardstown. We’ve burrowed through both to pick out our top tips.
17:00 Wexford – Workinonadream
It was an encouraging hurdle bow from WORKINONADREAM when making her debut for Philip Rothwell earlier this month and she’s entitled to come on for that outing. Gers Gigi, Doyen Magic and Birmingham Alabama have all shown enough to suggest they might be able to land a maiden hurdle.
17:35 Wexford – A Mere Bagatelle
Jody Townend has won two of the last three renewals and she has a fair chance on board Schiehallion but preference is for A MERE BAGATELLE who ran well in defeat last time and could be a major threat to all if he can get an uncontested lead here. Lucky Storm is only up 6lb for her recent win and should remain competitive
18:05 Wexford – Tullyveery Lad
It might be worth taking a chance on TULLYVEERY LAD who struggled over fences last time but he won a beginners’ on his penultimate run and looks well treated from his lower hurdle mark here. Bigira will be a player if she finds any improvement for a step up in trip and Doyen For A Drink can’t be ruled out if fit for her return. Ranger Billy is probably the main danger if he’s turned out again quickly after going close on Tuesday.
18:20 Leopardstown – Cradle Of Love
A tricky race to figure out but CRADLE OF LOVE sets a solid standard judged on her maiden form and she ran a decent race at Royal Ascot. Ballydoyle’s representative Garden Of Eden has to be respected, as does the Ger Lyons-trained Luscious who ran well at Bellewstown on debut, while it would be no surprise to see Dahlia Noir and Mykonian Odyssey bounce back to form.
19:20 Leopardstown – Shamsuddin
A small enough field but nonetheless competitive. Recent Dundalk winners SHAMSUDDIN and Tokenomics could play major roles here, the former preferred off what appears a handy enough mark on handicap debut. Mundi has to be respected dropped in class, while the more exposed Snellen can’t be ruled out either, nor can September Leaves be.
20:20 Leopardstown – Figurehead
The progressive Sceptred Isle won with plenty to spare at Tipperary last time but has an 11lb rise in the weights to overcome. Believe In Science rates a big danger judged on his recent second but is yet to taste success, and that could leave the door open for FIGUREHEAD to get his head in front for the first time. He found little for pressure when seemingly travelling all over the field at Limerick last time and is worth another chance off the same mark.
