14:15 – Bits And Bobs

This isn’t a deep race and it is BITS AND BOBS, one of two three-year-olds in the line-up, who is taken to come out on top. He looked a useful prospect when making a winning debut for Andrew Balding last season but hasn’t quite progressed as expected since, though this represents an easier task than he’s been used to, and it looks a good opportunity for him to get his head back in front. Fanzone can place again.

14:45 – Wondrous Ways

WONDROUS WAYS ran her best race to date when opening her account on nursery debut at Catterick 13 days ago, given a prominent ride and finding plenty for pressure in the closing stages. That wasn’t the strongest race of its type, but neither is this, and she looks the one to side with from a 5 lb higher mark. Music History is a potential improver now switched to nurseries so is feared most.

15:15 – Laudable

LAUDABLE is just a modest maiden, but he has run some sound races since joining Tristan Davidson, notably when runner-up in a handicap over slightly further at Ayr in May. He perhaps wasn’t suited by two miles last time, and better is expected now dropping back in trip and moving into classified company. He looks the one to beat at the weights, while Peripeteia rates the main threat ahead of National Question.

15:45 – Le Beau Garcon

LE BEAU GARCON had fallen down the weights and was well supported to end a losing run at Thirsk last month, beating the reopposing Khabib by half a length. He displayed a good attitude on that occasion, always holding the runner-up, and he remains on a fair mark following a 3 lb rise in the weights. Ziggy’s Queen is the only three-year-old in the field and is feared most back down in class, while veteran Ghathanfar can make the frame again.

16:15 – Union Island

This doesn’t look a deep maiden and Timeform top-rated UNION ISLAND is taken to open his account. He showed much improved form on his return when finishing runner-up over six furlongs at Brighton last month, headed only in the final 100 yards, and he sets a solid standard on form dropped back to the minimum trip. Doralee, who is a potential improver, may give him most to think about.

16:50 – Trojan Sun

Preference is for TROJAN SUN, who appreciated the step up in trip when finishing runner-up over this course and distance on his handicap debut earlier this month, uncomfortable with the early pace when becoming detached, but staying on well in the closing stages in the manner of a thorough stayer. He remains unexposed and may have more improvement in him. Myboymax and Achnamara should also go well.

17:25 – Petra Celera

PETRA CELERA hasn’t been with this yard long and she produced a career-best effort to resume winning ways over this trip at Thirsk earlier this month. That effort can be marked up further, too, given that she overcame a pace bias, displaying a nice turn of foot in the closing stages to run down the leaders, and a subsequent 3 lb rise leaves her well treated on the pick of her efforts. Giorgio M and Rory rate the principal dangers.
