14:30 – It’s All About You
It’s All About You has proved consistent since joining Jennie Candlish (was previously with the Charltons) and he has registered the same Timeform performance rating on each of his four starts this season. He probably could have done with setting a stronger pace when dropped in trip at Pontefract last time and he should appreciate the stiffer test that this step back up in distance will provide.
15:05 – Managing Director
Managing Director is bred to be useful and he made an encouraging start to his career when fifth at Redcar on debut last month, taking the field along until inside the final couple of furlongs. He then built on that promise when dropped in trip at Beverley a couple of weeks ago, finishing third and pulling well clear of the remainder in a soundly-run race. He’s likely to progress again and can make the most of Motawahij’s absence to get off the mark.
15:40 – Pinpoint
Pinpoint has been disappointing the last twice but he won over this course and distance in April on his only previous visit to Ayr and the application of cheekpieces for the first time could help bring about a return to form. Pinpoint remains capable of making an impact off a mark 4lb higher than the one he defied over course and distance.
16:15 – Eternal Sunshine
Eternal Sunshine showed improved form to get off the mark in a classified stakes at Thirsk last month and then progressed again to follow up in a handicap over this course and distance a couple of weeks ago, showing good speed to keep tabs on the leader and then comfortably wearing that one down inside the final furlong. A 6lb rise in the weights for that emphatic success is fair enough and she looks up to completing the hat-trick.
16:50 – Braes of Doune
Braes of Doune has been knocking on the door this season, finishing in the frame on all four outings. He was beaten only half a length in fourth in a mile handicap here last week and he deserves credit for that display as he came from further back than ideal in a race run at a steady gallop. He remains fairly treated off the same mark and, while the drop in trip asks a new question, he is worth siding with.
17:25 – Helter Skelter
Helter Skelter produced his best effort to date when beaten only a nose at Hamilton last week and he can go one better here off just a 1lb higher mark. Helter Skelter had produced a rather laboured display when runner-up at Carlisle on his penultimate start but the switch to a visor from cheekpieces seemed to have a positive effect at Hamilton where he saw things out really well once hitting top gear, faring best of those held up. He’s potentially very well treated if putting it all together.
