17:10 – Magnetic North (NAP)
Last year’s winner MAGNETIC NORTH (nap) has settled in well with his new trainer and can uphold last month’s Gowran form with Lohengrin. Corduan, who is well-treated by the race conditions, makes a quick reappearance after a disappointing Killarney run. Edge Of Darkness emerged with some credit from a hurdles run at Killarney.
17:40 – Thompson Gunner
Despite having won a Naas trial THOMPSON GUNNER still looked a bit raw when fourth over C&D last month. He can improve from that and may cope with the 70-rated filly Presence and El Regalo who had trial experience before his Curragh fifth.
18:10 – Next Trick
C&D winner Gregorina should go well off a lightweight here but a couple of less exposed types may have her measure. The well-related NEXT TRICK seems fairly treated for her handicap debut and has a good 5lb claimer aboard into the bargain. Spunog and Jack Spriggens are also appealing.
18:40 – Bear Profit
Ger O’Leary has a strong hand and may collect with BEAR PROFIT who appears more favourably treated than stablemate Come On The Lads. Following a recent return to winning form at Dundalk Sirjackthomas can make his presence felt again. Brewel Hill is a place possibility.
19:10 – Mr Lincoln
Though most of his Flat runs have been over shorter, MR LINCOLN was third in a Cork maiden hurdle last time and should stay this trip on the level. See Me Through is taking a big step up in trip but his yard is flying this season and he has to be respected. Lord Erskine and No Hassle are others to consider.
19:40 – Burvea
Enquire Within has been consistent lately but has gone up another 3lb and that doesn’t help. Mayo For Sam was just denied over C&D and can be excused a lesser run at Limerick so is a big player. Albatala was runner-up over 1m2f on the testing ground last autumn and the more rain the better for her. However, a chance is taken on BURVEA who ran a fine race to be second over hurdles at this track last time. The Denis Hogan pair of Nosey Anna and Dynamite Defense are worth a market check on handicap debut.
20:10 – Stariam
He was runner-up in this race last year but Suprise Package will have to improve lots from his Flat return to go one better. Though well held in second by Magical Zoe at Down Royal last time, STARIAM won’t have to improve much on that to get the better of her main danger Carlo Bianconi, getting 5lb from that rival.
