13:35 Gale Mahler

Gwash is unlucky not to be a dual hurdle winner and will be a tough nut to crack if back on song after last month’s tame effort, while Letterston Lily cruised to victory in a run-of-the-mill mares’ race three weeks ago and remains an unknown quantity. However, GALE MAHLER has impressed on both her hurdling starts and looks a good prospect.

14:05 Happy Boy

Low-mileage 7yo HAPPY BOY ran a big race in defeat over 2m1f at Fontwell in May and might be the answer to this, if today’s longer trip and/or last month’s wind op can unlock further improvement. Flying Fortune moves back into a handicap after chasing home a promising mare in a novice race last month and may also still have potential. Pyffo, Faithfulflyer and Clararose are others to consider.

14:40 All The Glory

As competitive as ever. Maxcel and Mostly Sunny (second choice) are improving hurdlers who dominated a race at Uttoxeter last time and both need considering, along with proven class acts Fringill Dike and Black Poppy. Another who could be interesting is ALL THE GLORY, who travels strongly in her races, and the likelihood of a solid gallop over a shorter trip may play to her strengths.

15:15 Statuario

As always, this looks sure to be run at a strong gallop. Francky Du Berlais is well suited by this race’s demands having won it twice before but preference is for his stablemate STATUARIO. He came clear with the subsequent Summer Cup winner when winning over 3m at Perth and his assured stamina could be his trump card. Parisencore is improving and a 3lb rise for his last win seems lenient, while others on the shortlist are Mole Court and Boombawn.

15:50 Stroll On By

Omaha Wish had the run of things when winning at Fakenham but she’s open to improvement and earns second preference behind STROLL ON BY. The selection won going away here last time when dropped to this shorter trip. Gower Prince is unlikely to be far away.

16:25 King’s Castle

Captain Attridge is not yet fully exposed and has a big role to play on his return to a handicap but there is no strong temptation to oppose KING’S CASTLE (nap), who was in superb form this spring and is now bidding for his fourth win in a row. Bannister ran well here a fortnight ago and is next on the list.

17:00 Meetmeinthemorning

Five of these were last-time-out winners but one who may have more potential than all of those is MEETMEINTHEMORNING, who was running in only his second chase when a close second to Backbyjet over 2m4f at Hexham last month and promises to be suited by today’s step up in trip. Backbyjet may also have further improvement to come over 3m and is feared most. Exmoor Forest did well to overcome a mid-race howler at Bangor three weeks ago and is next on the list, ahead of the Bowen-trained pair Easy Bucks and Roll With It.
