17:15 Chepstow – Sub Thirteen
A tight little handicap in which all six can be given a chance. Saying that it’s hard to look away from SUB THIRTEEN, who has improved since joining Tony Carroll and may have scope for better still now that he steps back up in trip. Miss Information would have claims if she can get back to the form she showed when third on her reappearance, but the second choice is Phoenix Of Dreams who is open to improvement on his handicap debut.
18:05 Chester – Qaseem
Things won’t be easy for the penalised C&D winner The Flying Seagull (second choice), but with ample Chester experience to draw upon, he should have what it takes to confirm placings with Groundsman. However, a marginal preference is for Karl Burke’s QASEEM, who bumped into an improver at Redcar and could potentially make the breakthrough at the third time of asking. Andrew Balding’s Brighton Boy can make the frame.
18:25 Chepstow – Sugar Hill Babe
Bama Lama defied a career-high mark at Ffos Las on Wednesday but will need more again under the 5lb penalty and Rhubarb, a close third there, has every chance of turning things round back at her favourite course. Howzak should go well again but this is a bit easier than the handicaps SUGAR HILL BABE, who shaped nicely back from a short break on the AW last time, has been contesting and she gets the nod.
19:15 Chester – Danger Alert (NAP)
A tight-knit sprint in which George Baker’s DANGER ALERT (nap) is taken to build on his eye-catching Windsor fourth last time out and resume winning ways. Fellow course winner Dickieburd appeals as the chief threat off a handy-looking mark with the consistent Coup De Force and recent course scorer Hyperfocus also well in the mix.
20:10 Chepstow – Arthur Rose
Mullins Beach is preferred to Rinnovati of the two last-time-out winners, with Jack Doughty taking 5lb off. But both are completely exposed now and a chance is taken on handicap newcomer ARTHUR ROSE, who had a couple of wide stalls to deal with at Windsor earlier in the summer.
20:55 Chester – Master Franca
A tricky finale. Last month’s course winner Berkshire Phantom has obvious claims, but a wide draw could scupper his chance. A factor which is also off-putting for the otherwise interesting duo American Star and Ugo Gregory. The suggestion from the plum draw is Hugo Palmer’s MASTER FRANCA, who admittedly needs to raise his game, but could find himself able to sit much handier than from stall 12 over 6f here last time.
