Jumeirah King is 5lb ahead of the handicapper after his recent maiden win, whereas MELTON MOSSY is 6lb wrong at the weights here. Nevertheless, preference is for Evan Williams’ fast-improving 5yo, who appeared to have quite a lot left in the tank at Worcester last month. Finest View and Carrigeen Kampala also make significant appeal in an interesting race.

15:50 Doncaster – Squealer (The Guardian)

Mon Na Slieve made some notable late headway at Royal Ascot two weeks ago and he’s open to improvement, while Looking For Lynda is better than he showed at Thirsk last time and Brave Nation (second choice) could find this being run to suit. SQUEALER will need a career best if he is to defy top weight but he’s a C&D winner who ran a fine race at Windsor last time and he may be up to the task.

16:50 Sandown – Night Sparkle (Racing Post)

Quickthorn and Trueshan hold leading form claims, and there’s rain forecast today which is a major plus for the latter, but they haven’t been at their best this season and it may pay to look elsewhere. The mare NIGHT SPARKLE kept on well for second in a 1m6f Group 3 at York in May and earns the vote in view of that staying promise, and in the hope she leaves behind her subsequent lesser effort at Haydock. The C&D Group 3 winner Roberto Escobarr is second choice.

17:45 Newton Abbot – Fenney Brook (Daily Mail)

Maroochi (second choice) was well supported when third over C&D last month and needs respecting but the suggestion is FENNEY BROOK who showed the benefit of wind surgery when third in a stronger race than this at Market Rasen last month. Luna Run and Only Fools are two others to consider in a weak handicap.
