This can go the way of TARTARAGHAN who only found one too good in a claimer last week and in receipt of weight from most, she ought to go well if taking to first-time cheekpieces. Sister Mila has shown a bit of promise in maidens and Gobi Star has claims on his best form. Tai Sing Yeh could be the main danger to the selection with some useful course form to his name.
17:15 Bellewstone – Eastern Wind
Plenty in with claims with the likes of Blackcastle Storm who could be hard to peg back if he gets loose on the front end and Breezy Zoff if yesterday’s run ignored. However, EASTERN WIND who is back on a good mark shades the vote after two promising runs at Leopardstown last month and she has a handy draw.
18:00 Beverley – Ventura Express
Emeralds Pride is seeking a five-timer and has to enter calculations, while Digital and Khabib (second choice) are ahead of the handicapper. VENTURA EXPRESS looked as good as ever when winning at Pontefract on his reappearance and a subsequent defeat in a stronger race at Thirsk is easy enough to forgive. He can repeat his 2022 win in this race.
18:08 Haydock – Clear Storm
Sheen Falls Time had some issues with a loose horse when a good second in a big field at Leopardstown and she’s respected along with recent Redcar winner Financer and last month’s C&D runner-up Carpathian. The well-related Anglepoise looks interesting on her handicap debut, while Elemental Eye could be dangerous if he can take another step back in the right direction. However, the vote goes to CLEAR STORM, who resumed her progress with a close call at Hamilton last week and is on the same mark here.
18:50 Cork – Missus Beeton
One who comes into this at the top of her game is MISSUS BEETON and a 2lb rise for her fast-finishing second at Punchestown looks fair. The extra furlong should suit too. Noble Hilltop got off the mark over this trip last time and the 4yo could be capable of progressing again while the likes of Cobra Queen and Rebel Treaty are unexposed types who may also have been reasonably treated by the handicapper.
19:10 Beverley – Seahorse Syd
This Years Love (second choice) and Evelyn’s Phoenix were first and second here last month and both are likely contenders again, but it could be worth chancing SEAHORSE SYD who was denied a clear run in the closing stages when fifth at Ripon a fortnight ago and might be boosted by new headgear. Handicap debutante Lizzie Lovett is also of interest.
19:18 Haydock – Renewal
It’s hard to rule out any of these in this interesting race. Jewel Of London sets the standard on her fourth in the Chesham and is strongly respected back in much calmer waters. Li Ban could take another step forward for her new yard, while Celestial Orbit also makes the shortlist after her promising run at Kempton. However, preference is for RENEWAL, who caught the eye with her strong-finishing fourth at Nottingham two weeks ago and has plenty of scope for progress upped in trip on her second start.
20:00 Cork – Whatcouldhavebeen
Having finished 4l ahead of Franciscan Rock in the Grade 1 Stayers’ Hurdle at Punchestown, WHATCOULDHAVEBEEN can confirm that form on the same terms. Dreal Deal might be the biggest danger to that pair.
