18:20 – Giselles Defence
None of these are entirely foolproof but while GISELLES DEFENCE’s best form in Britain has come on good to soft and slower ground he seemed perfectly at home on good going in Ireland and comes here in form. Daisy Roots has a good run in her back over 1m2f but perhaps Mrembo can be the main danger. Oj Lifestyle has a question mark about his current form but he would have major claims if he could recapture his autumn form on this track.
18:50 – Sir Peter Fossick
The standard set by Jack Andrea (second choice) and Dark Thunderstorm is not a high one, so it would not be a great surprise were the well-related newcomers SIR PETER FOSSICK and Hot Cash to be in serious contention. The Johnston stable won this race with a newcomer two years ago. The market moves could reveal plenty more.
19:25 – Indian Creak
The excellent Mr Wagyu (second choice) is much respected on his form over C&D and elsewhere but he does thrive in big fields so this might not be quite his race. Get It opened some doors with his 6f win at Windsor last time out but the fourth there INDIAN CREAK hinted at a revival and he’s well handicapped again on his win in this last year and a close second over C&D the previous July.
20:00 – Ectocross
With one or two doubts over each of his rivals, a chance is taken on the reappearing ECTOCROSS. He would have made more appeal at 1m2f judged on last season but he won first time out in that campaign, has proved himself at Epsom and his stable is among the winners. Wahraan was a largely reformed character leaving the stalls on his last two starts, winning the latest last Tuesday, and that puts him second on the list despite his penalty.
20:30 – Thursday
This looks quite a puzzle. The Conqueror and Angel On High appear solid to run well but Our Papa Smurf and THURSDAY are far more lightly raced and less exposed, bringing potential after registering their highest rating last time out. It’s not an easy choice between them but Thursday has done a little more to show that she should stay and act on fast ground.
21:00 – Marlay Park (NAP)
Cases can be made for others such as Mister Bluebird (second choice), Tropez Power and Justcallmepete but it is not hard to side instead with the sparkling course specialist MARLAY PARK (nap). He ran poorly at Lingfield 13 days ago but something not dissimilar has happened on occasions before at other tracks and he’s delivered a big run almost every time at Epsom. He is also back to his last winning mark.
