14:15 American Style

Kevin Ryan’s AMERICAN STYLE left his debut well behind when going down by a head to subsequent Chesham Stakes runner-up Pentle Bay in a decent maiden at Leicester three weeks ago. He can go one better this time at the main expense of Bella Love who made a promising start when beaten a length by Lesley’s Boy at Wetherby. Ay Gee Ell, a son of Sands of Mali and a half-brother to a two-year-old winner, is a newcomer to note for the Richard Fahey stable.

14:45 The Crafty Mole

THE CRAFTY MOLE ran out a convincing winner when stepped back up in trip at Yarmouth last week and under his penalty might be able to make it four wins out of four in 1¾m handicaps for David O’Meara. Last month’s Lingfield scorer Nancy P should stay this far and is feared most ahead of Believitanducan who has been placed behind the selection on both his outings this season at Wetherby and Redcar and meets him on better terms this time. ‌

15:15 The Reverend

THE REVEREND created a good impression when winning a novice first time out for William Haggas at Newmarket in November and he’s worth a chance to maintain his unbeaten record returning here under a penalty. Thunder Run shaped well from further back than ideal when a length and a quarter second to a stablemate of the selection, Tiaraqueen, on his debut at Wetherby last month and he’s open to a good deal of improvement, so he’s the obvious threat.

15:45 Georgie Wooster

It would be no real surprise were last-time-out winners GEORGIE WOOSTER and Savvy Warrior to dominate this. The latter was a cosy winner when improving to land a handicap at Wetherby last time but marginal preference is for Tim Easterby’s Georgie Wooster given how strong he was at the finish when making a successful handicap debut at Redcar. Of the rest, Book of Life is worth a check in the betting eased markedly in class for the in-form yard of Ian Williams.

16:20 Kings Crown

KINGS CROWN gained his only career win at this track when trained by Adrian Nicholls and, now with Michael Dods, hinted at a revival when only beaten a length or so into sixth behind Berkshire Phantom at Chester last time. He can build on that effort from a 2 lb lower mark and resume winning ways. Patontheback brings very solid credentials to the table and is next on the list ahead of the handily-weighted Sunny Orange and in-form duo Arnaz and One More Dream.

16:55 Summerghand

David O’Meara’s durable veteran SUMMERGHAND ran about as well as could be expected from his position in the Buckingham Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot and gets the nod to take advantage of this drop in grade. Jehangeer shaped encouragingly on his reappearance at Newmarket and has both the pedigree and physique to go on improving following both a gelding and breathing operation. Strong Johnson seems to be building up to something and completes the shortlist.‌

17:25 Parr Fire

An open-looking sprint in which it could be worth taking a chance on PARR FIRE who was below form at Carlisle recently but had shaped quite encouragingly on her first start for Ben Haslam when reappearing at Doncaster last month. She can build on that back in a visor. Garifullina should appreciate this return to six furlongs, so she can give the selection most to think about, with Foreseeable Future and Willow Baby another couple fancied to go well.

17:55 Gunnerside

Grant Tuer’s GUNNERSIDE capitalised on his falling mark when scoring over five furlongs at Chepstow nine days ago and he remains well-treated on the pick of last season’s form under a penalty. He is taken to follow up returned to this longer trip, with Hombre feared most as he makes only his third start on turf and was a course-and-distance winner in April. Northern Prince could also be in the mix trying six furlongs for the first time.
