14:15 – Simply Blue
SIMPLY BLUE cost £180,000 as a yearling and he showed the benefit of his debut run when beaten a nose over five furlongs at Leicester at the end of May. He was given a positive ride on that occasion, only edged out near the line, and the timefigure recorded that day gives the form substance. The step back up to six furlongs will suit and he sets a solid standard on form. Cape Sovereign makes the most appeal of the newcomers, though any support for Urban Sky and Sealine should be noted, too.
14:45 – Miaswell
MIASWELL showed ability on his debut at Thirsk last season and he built on that promise when making a winning handicap debut at Haydock in May. He was wearing a tongue strap for the first time, and had also undergone a breathing operation, both of which clearly helped as he showed much improved form. He wasn’t fancied in the betting, but displayed a cracking attitude, and should have even more to offer in handicaps. Rose Branch, a winner here on her return a fortnight ago, could progress further also and is feared most ahead of Mysteryofthesands.
15:15 – Londoner
LONDONER developed into a useful handicapper for Aidan O’Brien last year and, though his recent form figures for this yard don’t look too inspiring, he has actually shaped better than the bare result on each occasion. He ran his best race when beaten three and three quarter lengths in a big-field, competitive handicap at York last month, and he should be competitive in this race if building on that having dropped to a career-low mark. Pisanello and Aragon Castle are a couple of the other likely players.
15:45 – Sacred Falls
SACRED FALLS arrives in good form, resuming winning ways fitted with first-time cheekpieces at Carlisle in May, and she has lost little in defeat both starts since, beaten only a neck over this trip at Ayr 10 days ago. She should have arguably won that day, a tardy start putting her on the back foot right away and she was worn down only in the final 100 yards. She has a professional jockey taking over now and seems sure to launch another bold bid. Jordan Electrics and old rival Winter Crown can go well again.
16:15 – Percy Shelley
PERCY SHELLEY was a three-time winner in France, where he showed useful form, and while he hasn’t hit the ground running for new connections, he did catch the eye in a competitive handicap at York two starts back. He was the only one from the rear to make up any ground that day, and he didn’t seem suited by the track at Epsom last time, so he’s well worth another chance to prove himself on a good mark in what looks a winnable race. Quantum Leap could be the danger first time back if breaking on terms.
16:52 – Lady Bouquet
LADY BOUQUET has largely held her form well this year and she proved better than ever when resuming winning ways over this trip at Beverley last week, always in a good position and quickening up well for a comfortable success. She escapes a penalty for that win, so she makes plenty of appeal racing from the same mark, especially as William Buick is a noteworthy jockey booking.
