13:20 Uttoxeter – Flying Fortune
Gale Mahler won readily on her hurdling debut and is respected but she may find it difficult to concede her penalty to FLYING FORTUNE, who switches back to a novice race after going close on her handicap debut in March. Three-time handicap winner Paddy De Pole is also likely to be in the shake-up.
14:25 Uttoxeter – Frere dArmes
A hot 2m handicap chase likely to be run at a furious pace. FRERE D’ARMES had a wind op after his below-par run in May and can be very dangerous off his current mark if back on song in first-time blinkers here. Fringill Dike and Al Zaraqaan both enhanced their very good chasing strike-rates with clearcut wins last month but the biggest threat to the selection may come from low-mileage 6yo Breizh River, who has made a very bright start to his chasing career.
14:35 Cartmel – Lets Do This
The now-hooded LETS DO THIS lacks a recent run but he has threatened on good ground in Ireland and slow ground was against him the last twice. The veteran Pateen did it fairly comfortably here last time and can continue the good work if his stamina holds out over this new trip. Saint Bibiana, Rumble B, Balkotic and Secret Secret should all run well.
15:10 Cartmel – Petit Tonnerre
The Cartmel experience will be new to him but PETIT TONNERRE is accustomed to competing in stronger races than this one. A repeat of his close seventh in the Scottish Champion Hurdle would see him hard to beat. Gavin Cromwell’s British raids always catch the eye and Je T’Ai Porte commands a second look for all that chasing is more her thing. Elogio could be interesting following a change of scenery and with the cheekpieces back on.
16:45 Uttoxeter – Maxcel
Mostly Sunny was flattered to win by quite so far at Southwell and this 10lb higher mark probably asks plenty of him. Preference is for MAXCEL, a low-mileage 7yo who comfortably beat a Bangor specialist three weeks ago. Forget The Way (second choice), Right Now and Myristica can all have a say in the outcome.
16:55 Cartmel – Lights Are Green
Recent Hexham fourth LIGHTS ARE GREEN is taken to win his second race over C&D by beating Kelso winner Baron Briggs and Toucan Sam.
