Teej A sets a fair standard and I’ll side with him. He’s on a hat-trick after winning impressively at Chester and Epsom in May.

The Northumberland Vase is a consolation race for the Northumberland Plate and the highest rated in the field has a mark of 83. I’m inclined to look at the Irish challenger Belgoprince who lines up for Tony Martin’s sister, Cathy O’Leary. He can hit the places after an impressive second in a handicap hurdle at Sligo earlier this month.
14:50 Newmarket – King Of Conquest
William Buick is at Newmarket on Saturday for a full book of rides and King Of Conquest rates as one of his – and Charlie Appleby’s – best chances.
15:10 Newcastle – Yashin
Trooper Bisdee looks the obvious improver in the field but Jessica Harrington’s Yashin has good form including finishing third behind Kyprios the last twice over 1m 6f in Group races. There’s plenty of exposed horses in this field and Yashin should be suited by the step up to 2m. Scott McCullagh takes 3lbs off the five-year-old in this valuable handicap.
15:25 Newmarket – Tiber Flow
Tiber Flow could give Noble Dynasty plenty to think about after a morale-boosting win at Haydock last time following an earlier tumble at York.
