13:15 – Rock Of Cashel

Ballydoyle won this last season with subsequent Epsom Derby winner City Of Troy and Rock Of Cashel represents the Aidan O’Brien / Ryan Moore combo of the three Ballydoyle runners. He’s very well-bred but I’ve no really strong opinion as 14 of the 15 runners make their racecourse debut.

13:45 – Heavenly Power / Gordon Bennett (each way)

Red Letter Bray could hold the key as Heavenly Power – who was fourth in this race last year – was sixth to him last time. It was only his second run of the year and finished fourth in this contest last year. He looks to be peaking for this contest as he’s a dual winner at the Curragh. Gordon Bennett was just behind Heavenly Power also that day and has dropped 11lbs in the weights. Both look players.

14:20 – American Bar

A few of this field are turned around quickly after Royal Ascot and that mightn’t be ideal. Truly Enchanting disappointed there and is on a recovery mission. Paddy Twomey’s American Bar won well at Listowel over 6f on debut and looks to be going places. The fourth, Merrilly, has won since at Naas last Wednesday and she can take another step forward now in this higher grade.

14:55 – Bolster

Jan Brueghel sets the standard after winning on debut and steps up in class and up in trip to 1m 2f. Ecuruil Secret could be in the mix if he handles quicker ground. Bolster looks very good value for his recent win at Epsom and has the style of racing that will suit the Curragh track. Karl Burke team are flying and he should make a bold bid from the front.

15:30 – Bluestocking

The Group One Pretty Polly Stakes features five UK challengers in the eight-runner field. Bluestocking looks the best of them and ran well when second here last season. She looks to be getting better with age and was a very good winner at York last month. Emily Upjohn hasn’t progressed since she was beaten by Paddington in the Eclipse last season. Stay Alert beat Running Lion at Newmarket in May and he won at Royal Ascot, so she has place claims.

16:05 – Bialystok

A cracking handicap for the Ladies Derby where Scholarship is really interesting and looks on a workable mark having been down the field to Royal Ascot winner Crystal Black. Rachael Blackmore rides Good Heavens for JP McManus. However, Bialystok has an opening mark of 92 for Willie Mullins and he might relish this return to the Flat from his days racing on the level in France. He may want a longer trip but there should be a strong gallop in this his proven stamina will help.

16:40 – Galen

Joseph O’Brien’s Galen was second to City of Troy on debut 12 months ago before finishing runner-up again on seasonal reappearance here in May to Super Sox. He’s obviously had issues with just two runs in 12 months but he didn’t do a lot wrong on reappearance last month and the third that day, Kortez Bay, has won since.

17:15 – Arnaman

I’d be worried about the lack of winners on the dam’s side in John Steinbeck’s pedigree to be honest in this five-runner maiden. Arnaman has a chance and was second to Sakti – when a 100/1 shot – in a 7f maiden at Dundalk in March to Sakti. He’s reached a high rating since and the third home that day has won subsequently. Might be an alternative to the Ballydoyle runner.
