14:10 – Star Legend

A tricky apprentice handicap to get the card underway but it might be worth chancing that STAR LEGEND can bounce back from a poor effort with a hood on for the first time on the Flat. The son of Galileo was successful in the headgear over hurdles for James Owen last year and he’d been in good form before his latest start. Story Horse is an obvious player under a penalty but there are reservations about his stamina, so Mandega, third in a similar event on his last Flat start, may be the one to fear most.

14:40 – Chesneys Charm

CHESNEYS CHARM had been prominent in the betting and offered something to work on, following a slow start, when fourth in a maiden at Leicester on his debut for Michael Bell. With that experience likely to bring him forward, he may well be up to opening his account now fitted with a visor. Enchanted Eye is the danger on form if building on his debut effort at Windsor and Green Icon appeals as an interesting newcomer for Owen Burrows as he’s a brother to a useful sort.

15:10 – Blessed Honour

The Charlie Appleby-trained BLESSED HONOUR left her debut form well behind and shaped best when a length second to stablemate Precious Jewel at Newmarket last time and she’s likely to go on progressing, so she’s an obvious choice to get the better of Daylight Chorus, who was doing some good late work when fourth on her recent debut at Chelmsford. Power of Destiny, successful in a maiden at Haydock last time and the only winner in the field, is another one to bear in mind.

15:45 – Covert Legend

The vote goes to Tjade Collier’s COVERT LEGEND who looked unlucky not to finish much closer at Thirsk last month when denied a clear run on more than one occasion and finishing on the bridle. He is appealing off the same mark and has winning form earlier this year at Wolverhampton. Lunarscape returns from a break since some respectable efforts on the all-weather early in the year and could be the one to follow him home, with Taravara, a creditable fourth here last time, also accorded respect.

16:20 – Noisy Music

Having made a successful first start for Mick Appleby at Windsor early this month NOISY MUSIC possibly found the race coming too soon at Thirsk just four days later so she’s fancied to resume winning ways stepping back up to six furlongs in this fillies’ handicap. Salisbury winner Miss Stormy Night looks like one of the main dangers along with another last-time-out winner Dusk Dame who makes her handicap debut after winning a maiden at Catterick.

16:50 – Dunnington Lad

DUNNINGTON LAD returned to form out of the blue when making all at Ripon last week at odds of 33/1, not having shown much previously for Peter Winks, and he will take some stopping under a penalty here if in a similar mood. He certainly won’t have things all his way, though, with the in-form Mrs Trump, who went close over course and distance last time, in opposition, while cases can also be made for the front-running Suanni and The Grey Lass.
