13:45 – Wild Clary
WILD CLARY is bred to be useful and attracted support on his debut at Newbury last month and shaped very well from a hopeless position, arguably better than anything else in the race. He confirmed that promise when runner-up to an above-average newcomer back at Newbury 13 days ago, keeping on well to finish second, and he sets a good standard in this field, with the prospect of even more to come. Luther and Dash of Azure are both interesting newcomers and a market move for either would be interesting.
14:15 – Whenthedealinsdone
A far-from-prolific bunch of sprinters but several lurk on a dangerous mark, including WHENTHEDEALINSDONE, who hasn’t won for pushing on two years, but is now 15 lb lower than that winning mark. He has hit the frame on his last four starts and, while he seemingly isn’t the force of old anymore, he arrives in good heart. So that swings the pendulum in his favour. Treacherous and Beyond Equal could be the main threats.
14:45 – Sergio Parisse
Having shaped with plenty of promise on his debut at Leicester, SERGIO PARISSE duly built on that when opening his account at Windsor a week later, strong in the betting and relishing the step up to six furlongs. There should be even more to come from him and he looks a juvenile to keep on the right side. Oakley Boy did it nicely at Chelmsford so is the second choice, with Pay Attention likely to step up on a considerate introduction.
15:15 – Crown Estate
This looks like a useful handicap, but CROWN ESTATE stands out at the weights now taking on older horses for the first time. He arrives very much on the up, beaten only by another progressive sort at Haydock last time, and the third has since come out and won to boost the form. He is 3 lb higher now but remains a horse to be positive about and first-time cheekpieces should perk him up further. Leuven Power is a danger back at the scene of last year’s win and Change For Good isn’t one to write off, either.
15:45 – Glendower
This step up in trip promises to suit GLENDOWER, who made a highly encouraging start to his career at Nottingham earlier this month, coming from further back than the pair that beat him, and the booking of Jim Crowley adds to his appeal. South Pole is an interesting recruit for the in-form George Boughey yard and he could prove to be a bigger threat than Lord of Love, respected though that rival is. Newcomer Dramatic Quest is one to monitor closely in the betting.
16:15 – Subsequent
SUBSEQUENT was suited by the step up in trip when easily opening his account at Haydock last time, and the form of his previous start when runner-up at this course is working out well. He is bred to go on improving over middle distances, and an opening mark of 84 seems fair, so he takes marginal preference over the unbeaten Silent Glance, who has her first turf outing. Spaceport is very much one to consider, too.
16:50 – Delicacy
This surely rests between DELICACY and Sunny Corner, with the top-weight marginally preferred on the back of a good second to a progressive rival at Nottingham. She wasn’t beaten far on that occasion and this is arguably not as deep as that contest. The latter won’t go down without a fight if repeating his latest effort in a Chepstow handicap but it’s hard to make a strong case for any of the others.
