The trends point to interesting debutante GEO, whose trainer has a good record with newcomers in this event. Dear Cat, who holds leading claims on bare figures, is second choice ahead of Pure Artistry whose Hamilton effort received a boost two days ago.
17:15 Brighton – Niloufar
The three older horses (two of them C&D winners) each have something to recommend them, but the last three runnings of this have gone to a 3yo and can do so again courtesy of NILOUFAR. A dual winner on the AW in the spring, she looked unfortunate not to go even closer when fourth at Newbury last month and a repeat of that effort may be good enough. The unexposed Small Fry is worth keeping an eye on now making his debut for the Moore stable.
18:20 Brighton – King Of War
G’Daay is one for the shortlist having returned to his last winning mark as is Musical Mystery who is 1-1 over C&D having made all here last month. However, who may not be able to confirm form with the runner-up KING OF WAR who was returning from nine months off that day and is also 3lb better off. The veteran Poetic Force can’t be dismissed now 1lb below his last winning mark, while recent C&D winner Shaw Park may prove the pick of the Scott Dixon trio.
19:15 Newbury – Rich
The shortlist is headed by RICH (narrowly preferred) and Flying Secret, who look interesting off reduced marks back at this course. They are by no means solid on 2024 evidence but the Newbury factor, combined with being favourably handicapped, may enable them to revive. Yantarni holds a leading chance provided his recent Lingfield form is transferred to this venue, while Sayifyouwill’s modest strike-rate on turf didn’t stop her from shaping very well last time.
19:50 Newbury – Chasseral
Several good options in a competitive race but CHASSERAL looked to be recapturing form at Windsor on her second run for this yard and she’s well treated on the form she was showing in better company this time last year. The 2023 winner Hurt You Never is in the form of her life and looks a big danger, as does Lipsink (second choice) who made a swift return to form on his recent debut for this yard. Kodi Red is not written off, either, now back on fast ground.
