13:55 – Island Of Skye
Island of Skye was disappointing when last seen at Southwell in January but he had been going through a good spell prior to that and the pick of his form, notably a win at Kempton in November, gives him good claims on his reappearance and first start for Mark Walford (previously with Eve Johnson Houghton). He has run well when fresh before and the cheekpieces, which have had a positive impact previously, are back on, so he can give a good account.
14:25 – Fayqa
Fayqa made an encouraging start to her career when fifth in a good-quality novice at Ascot last month and she built on that when losing out by a neck in second at Nottingham last time. She was flattered by her proximity to the winner at Nottingham but he has since given the form a boost by finishing third in the Britannia at Royal Ascot, while Fayqa deserves credit for pulling five and a half lengths clear of the third despite still looking a bit rough around the edges. Fayqa should still have a bit more to offer and can get off the mark here.
15:00 – Eternal Sunshine
Eternal Sunshine beat only one rival home on her reappearance and handicap debut at Musselburgh a few weeks ago but she stepped up on effort when fourth at the same venue 11 days ago. Eternal Sunshine kept on well in that five-furlong affair without ever proving a threat and she should be suited by this step up to six furlongs, while a high draw on this straight course is usually no bad thing. It’s still early days for Eternal Sunshine so there could be a bit more to come.
15:30 – Jack Of Clubs
Jack Of Clubs is usually campaigned at around six furlongs but he bounced back to form on a rare attempt at the minimum trip at Musselburgh three weeks ago and found only one too strong. Jack of Clubs is able to run off the same mark here, which is 2 lb below his last winning mark, so he holds solid claims.
16:00 – Reidh
Reidh is still searching for a first win but he has been dropping in the weights and he shaped well when third off a 1 lb higher mark at Wetherby a couple of weeks ago. Reidh, who had been gelded since last seen, raced with zest in a handy position, made good headway two furlongs out and kept on to fare best of those who stuck to the far side. He looks on a fair mark based on the pick of his efforts and is one to be interested in with a good comeback under his belt.
16:30 – Liberty Breeze
Liberty Breeze was beaten little more than three-quarters of a length after staying on well on her return to action at Catterick a couple of weeks ago and she is entitled to take a step forward with that outing under her belt. Liberty Breeze has tended to need the outing on her return so encouragement can be taken from her Catterick effort and she should go well off the same mark here, which is just 2 lb higher than her last winning mark.
17:00 – Kitsune Power
Kitsune Power has been cut plenty of slack by the handicapper since joining Tim Easterby from Roger Varian and he has offered encouragement on his last couple of starts here, including over this distance eight days ago. Kitsune Power confirmed his return to form and his stamina for this trip by finishing fifth in that competitive and valuable affair, and he deserves extra credit given he made his challenge near the far rail that was largely avoided for most of the afternoon. He might be able to capitalise on this lenient mark.
17:30 – Emeralds Pride
Emeralds Pride signed off with a hat-trick last season and she completed the four-timer when successful on her return at Beverley last month. Emeralds Pride was ridden patiently and was delivered with a strong run to lead inside the furlong and win by a length. She won that with something to spare and a 4 lb rise in the weights might not be enough to stop the sequence.
