13:47 – Warrendale Wagyu
WARRENDALE WAGYU had been gelded before making his reappearance at Doncaster nine days ago and he showed much-improved form to score on his handicap debut.
He didn’t look the most straightforward as he was slowly away and also hung inside the final half-furlong, but he won with a bit in hand so a 6lb penalty may not be enough to stop this lightly-raced sort from following up.
14:17 – Tower of Africa
TOWER OF AFRICA produced a promising first effort when runner-up at Carlisle a couple of weeks ago and is entitled to improve for that outing.
She was unable to go with a rival who had the benefit of experience to call on, but she kept on well to prove best of the rest and she could take a step forward over this longer trip.
14:47 – Giorgio M
GIORGIO M has been in good order since the tongue-tie was applied and he followed up his win at Musselburgh with an even better effort in second at Newmarket last time.
He found only a subsequent winner too strong at Newmarket and the way he stuck to his task in that six-furlong handicap suggests that he’ll benefit from stepping back up to seven furlongs here. The good form of the George Boughey stable is also in his favour.
15:17 – Spring Chorus
SPRING CHORUS went with little encouragement on her reappearance and first start for Jessica Macey at Southwell. But with the hood left off and back on turf, she produced a much better performance to spring a surprise over this course and distance last month.
She went up only 3lb for that length-and-a-quarter success and still looks ahead of her mark, especially as there could be more to come.
15:47 – Dain Ma Nut In
DAIN MA NUT IN shaped well on her reappearance when fifth at Catterick last month and built on that when third at Musselburgh 12 days ago.
The level she ran to at Musselburgh gives her good claims here and she is possibly open to more improvement than her main rival Drink Dry.
16:17 – Silver Gunn
SILVER GUNN has run respectably to finish fourth on both starts this season and those efforts came in slightly better races than this one.
He’s been eased 2 lb in the weights since his latest outing, so is 2lb below his last winning mark, and he ought to give a good account if getting a solid pace to chase (tends to pull hard).
16:47 – Lady of Time
LADY OF TIME was upped in trip and left her previous efforts behind when runner-up at Nottingham six days ago. She was only beaten by a length there, despite having to switch over a furlong out after she was short of room.
There should be more to come from this filly over middle distances. She can give a good account off the same mark here.
