14:30 – Bedtime Story

Bedtime Story wasn’t the more fancied of the Aidan O’Brien stable runners on her racecourse debut at Leopardstown but the way she finally knuckled down to go past the front runners marked her down as potentially very smart and she really did hit the line well. She is bound to have  taken a significant step forward both physically and mentally.

15:05 – Middle Earth

You had to be taken with the way Middle Earth finished off in sprinting fashion in the final quarter-mile at Newbury and the sectionals were certainly explosive. It was a clear personal best by him and he looks to have grown and strengthened into a very smart performer going forward.

15:45 – Mitbaahy

Mitbaahy is another who put up a personal best performance last time in Ireland at the Curragh and he has since been matched up with the excellent hold-up jockey Jamie Spencer. He can continue to perform and climb even higher. If the weather holds, which looks likely, we should get very fast conditions. That means we can put a line through a few in this contest straight away, but Mitbaahy loves to hear his feet rattle.

16:25 – Task Force

The market will make this a match up between Haatem and River Tiber because of their run against each other in the Irish 2,000 Guineas. I’m not totally convinced that they will really enjoy the much faster conditions. Task Force looks tailor-made for a really quick surface and added to that, he looks the natural 7f performer in this line up. He could prove the best over the long sprint discipline.

17:05 – Harry Three

Harry Three made an excellent return to action from a whopping 630 days away from the racecourse in a Listed contest at Salisbury. He’s going to take a big step forward from that effort and is reunited with the excellent Ryan Moore, who knows him very well having partnered him to a few victories previously. When Ryan is booked, you know that it’s ‘go’ time.

17:40 – Hand Of God

Everybody has latched onto Hand Of God in the market because he ought to take a huge step forward on what we have seen so far. He steps up in distance which looks perfect given his pedigree. He just did enough last time to keep his nose in front and he may well have been let off lightly as the assessor has only given him a gentle nudge up the ratings.

18:15 – Grand Providence

Grand Providence put up an excellent performance on her return to action at Newbury. That looked to have teed her up nicely for the Chester Cup in which she ran well without ever really threatening to win. She’s back on a more conventional track today over what is an extreme distance on the level. It should see her in a better light as she has stamina in abundance.
