Remember when you thought Jeff Stelling, a breakfast roll and a forty-six-team acca was the pinnacle of the weekend? Can I introduce you to a Royal Ascot/Euros Saturday instead? My word.

Here is my advice: get all of your grown-up responsibilities out of the way, put on some comfortable pants, smooth out the arse groove and get ready, because we’re all set for one of the most exciting sporting days of the entire year. Start your engines.

2pm: Georgia v Czech Republic – Georgia and the Draw

I feel for Georgia. They put on the most entertaining game of the tournament thus far; going absolute hell for leather against Turkey in their opener.

It’s quite clear to me now, and to everyone watching, that it’s not all end-to-end passion that gets them through, but genuine ability too.

Yes, we’re all aware that their entire side revolves around one particularly talented individual whom nobody hopes moves to England for fear of having to learn his name, but they played very decent football at times and are considerably overpriced against a side who’ll be incredibly deflated after losing out to Portugal in the dying embers.

I fancy them to get something out of this game with Georgia and The Draw Double Chance.

3.15pm: Continuous to Win the Hardwicke Stakes

Look, we’ve got the Leger winner in here who ran a good three-lengths fifth in the Arc when last seen.

Yes, I understand that’s the last time they were seen and the Arc is run in October, but under no circumstances should a horse who was fifteen lengths behind in Continuous’ Arc success be making that gap up, run or not run, this time around.

This is the best horse in this race by the bones of half a stone.

4.25pm: River Tiber to Win the Jersey Stakes

I’d start by saying that the furlong reduction from the 2,000 Guineas will actually benefit both market principles here.

Haatem looked like he went a touch too soon and just got outstayed by a very, very good favourite who’s franked the form since.

But I’d always pick Aidan O’Brien to bring one on after a close-run thing in an Irish Classic.

Not to mention he’s also getting a 3lb swing which is more than enough if they ran to the same level when last seen.

5pm: Turkey v Portugal – Portugal to Win

And on the other end of it, you have a team overjoyed with their victory coming into this game knowing they can win and rest players in the third game of the group.

They were sluggish first time up and performed well below expectations, so I think the fact they’re now facing tougher opposition should focus the collective mind. Easiest leg of the multi has to be Portugal to Win.

8pm: Belgium v Romania – Lukaku to Score Anytime

So much has been made about his glaring misses in front of goal a few days ago. And Belgium are wholly aware that if they have any chance going forward, Romelu Lukaku needs to be in-form.

They’ll spend an awful lot of their time trying to get him the ball, and despite the best performance of the competition so far, Romania are a far cry from sharpshooters. Back Big Rom to get off the mark and Score Anytime.
