18:03 Biniorella Bay

A tricky opener to solve despite the small field but the vote goes to BINIORELLA BAY, who found just one too strong on debut at Lingfield recently and is entitled to build on that initial effort. Her dam won over this trip and it looks perfect given the nice turn of foot she showed from off the pace last month.

Wathbah was a few places behind the selection that day and she may emerge as the main danger ahead of Theatrically, who has experience on her side and could improve for this step up in trip. Newcomer Bintabuha cost 140,000 as a yearling and is closely related to the useful 1½m-1¾m winner Garden Paradise so should be doing some good work late on.

18:35 Global Asset

The market suggested that GLOBAL ASSET would improve for moving into handicaps and he duly resumed with an excellent Windsor second and can go one better now and open his account at the chief expense of Great Chieftain, who also arrives on the back of a good runner-up finish at Nottingham.

The consistent Berkshire Nugget and Sheila’s Paradise, for whom the return to 1m on handicap debut looks a good move, also need factoring in. Marmaduke Lemon, meanwhile, wasn’t ideally placed (wide trip throughout) when sixth at Wolverhampton and better is expected here at a price.

19:10 Midnight Gun

Timeform’s pace prediction is ‘very weak’ for this competitive handicap and that should mean a tactical advantage for the prominently-ridden MIDNIGHT GUN, who boasts a smashing pedigree and took a step forward switched to turf when a cosy winner of a Nottingham novice six weeks ago.

The type to go on progressing in handicaps, he makes plenty of appeal on just his fourth start. Mythical Guest, who is 2/3 this campaign (both wins on quick ground), is next best down in trip assuming the rain stays away, ahead of Speeding Bullet who is back over 1m and Beverley winner Makeen who impressed in a first time visor last month.

19:45 Rhetorical

Lots of exciting prospects here and the market should provide some help as to who is expected to improve most with several of the leading candidates stepping up to this trip for the first time. That isn’t a question mark over RHETORICAL, however, who looked a smart prospect (earning a Timeform ‘large P’ marker) when easily seeing off a subsequent winner on debut at Newbury five weeks ago; he can make it 2/2 before having his sights raised.

This has the look of a good contest for the grade though, with fellow last-time-out winners Specialisation (from the family of very smart 1¼m-1½m winner Ferdoos), More Thunder (who had to battle hard to beat a promising sort at Nottingham) and Ciro di Marzio (an expensive purchase at two who progressed markedly from first to second start) all likely to improve also.

20:20 Rebaatt

Timeform ‘Horse In Focus’ REBAATT well and truly confirmed his previous promise when running out an emphatic winner at Chester seven days ago and, having improved markedly for stepping up to this trip, he should prove very tough to beat under a 6lb penalty. Bottom-weight Big Zou, a cosy Southwell winner who has his first start for Peter Chapple-Hyam here, and Newcastle winner Chaturanga are the lead threats.

Educate has plenty to prove after his woeful Leicester effort, for all this better ground should suit, while any market support for Yokohama should be noted as he steps up in trip (related to smart/ungenuine winner up to 9f Questioning and 1¼m winner Morning Muse).

20:55 Wonder Kid

Clearly well-treated after three starts in maidens, WONDER KID proved an all-round improved model as he made a winning return/handicap debut over this trip at Newbury eight days ago without looking the finished article and he looks the one to side with under a 6lb penalty with the prospect of more to come.

The stoutly-bred Sir Galahad, who has taken two steps forward in cheekpieces since stepping up in trip, and Catterick third Livinthelife are others fancied to be in the mix, while Normandy Vista has be
