14:30 – California Dreamer (each-way)
I’m going to take the same approach that I did earlier in the week and go for CALIFORNIA DREAMER as an each-way option for Adrian Murray in this one. Third to Fairy Godmother last time out and was beaten by less than a length. I thought she put in a really decent performance there and travelled very strongly in the race particularly as she started off at a very big price.
15:05 – Elite Status
I was very impressed with ELITE STATUS when won in Listed company at Newbury on his return to action. Given his liking for quick ground, he is a challenger for Inisherin, and the latter will try and make the running from stall 1, which is never easy at Ascot.
Elite Status lost his way a little at the end of last season, but he was enormously impressive at the National Stakes at Sandown and finished in a creditable third. He wasn’t far behind the winner and he’s guaranteed to run a big race.
15:45 – Porta Fortuna
I really like the look of PORTA FORTUNA for this one. I’ve liked her since this meeting last year and she was very impressive in winning the Albany. She’s another two-year-old who lost her form a bit last season but then came roaring back with a career best effort in the Cheveley Park Stakes.
She then went on to prove her stamina for the mile in the Breeders Cup and she was better than ever when finishing second in the English 1,000 Guineas last time.
16:25 – Deakin
This is one of my more confident picks for Day 4. DEAKIN really caught my eye at the Curragh last time, the way he went through the race, and has improved despite that. He got run down by Crystal Black, who he meets here again, and he has the stamina to go further.
His win at Thurles came over an extended 1m 4f where he was probably just short of peak fitness, despite that run being a career best. He’s going places and will be hard to beat.
17:05 – Zaynab
There is more to come from ZAYNAB. She beat Stravinsky in her second-last start and won her maiden on heavy ground at the Curragh, and did really well last time to run on and beat Flight of Fancy.
I really like the way she handled that, she looks ready to progress again, and is reasonably handicapped off 6lbs higher than her win last month.
17:40 – Calandagan
CALANDAGAN for Francis-Henri Graffard has won a pair of Group 3 races at Longchamp already this season. He held off the Listed class winner Trafalgar Square in both of those contest and comes in a little under the radar. He looks genuinely top class.
18:15 – Jubilee Walk
I quite like JUBILEE WALK. He’s drawn low, but I like the form line. He produced a career-best performance when he dropped back to 5f at York.
He was impressive and came through from mid-field to pick off the second and third placers and he meets his rival Pilgirm on 4lbs better terms. He just stands out ahead of Pilgrim and he’s got plenty going for him.
