14:30 Whistlejacket (NAP)
I can’t get away from Whistlejacket. He will be very hard to beat for Aidan O’Brien. He won last time out at the Curragh when beating Arizona Blaze, who reopposes here. He looks rock solid although I wouldn’t be surprised if Arizona Blaze comes forward too after battling back to beat Camille Pissarro last time out at the Curragh.
15:05 Gallantly
Chantilly is at the top of the market for Aidan O’Brien but he’s drawn in stall seven and you probably want a higher draw. I like Aidan’s other runner Gallantly, who’s in stall 13. He was impressive when winning at Chester last time out and he’s off a fair mark of 88. He’s a fairly big price too.
15:45 Danielle
I’ve landed on Danielle, who was behind You Got To Me and Rubies Are Red last time out at Lingfield. She paid the price for trying to be the one to chase down You Got To Me. I recently spoke with Kieran Shoemark and he really fancies her, so I’ll keep her on side.
16:25 Kyprios
The Gold Cup looks Kyprios‘ to lose when you consider the level of form that he has produced. He’s been as good this year as he ever has been and he isn’t too flashy, he just gets the job done. He’ll handle the ground and he’s really hard to beat. Willie Mullins has Vauban and while he’s in good order, it’ll be impressive if he runs into the money as Kyprios is just too good.
17:05 Follow Me
Follow Me has a really favourable draw in stall 27 for Ross O’Sullivan and Shane Foley. He’s won on his two starts for at the Curragh and his latest victory was really impressive as he was trapped in a pocket and had to be brave to weave his way through. He’s gone up 7lbs since his last run but he’s going in the right direction.
17:40 Kings Gambit
I can’t get a handle on First Look’s French form. I struggled to put a rating on it myself. Kings Gambit looks to have more potential and he a has a nice draw in stall seven. He beat Poniros in the London Gold Cup at Newbury last time out and he can build on that.
18:15 Fresh (each-way)
I’m siding with Fresh. He has won at Ascot over 7f on a couple of occasions and runs off a mark of 92, which is very workable, for trainer James Fanshawe and Hayley Turner.
