No Frankie Dettori? No problem!

The five-day Royal Ascot extravaganza gets underway on Tuesday and with three Group 1 races on the opening day it will have all the buzz of Euro 2024 – even if the opening ceremony tends to drag on a bit.

And to celebrate Paddy’s got a FREE BET HERE ON ANY ROYAL ASCOT RACE to kick off the meeting. Huzzah!

The feature contest is the St James’s Palace Stakes at 4:25pm where the English, Irish and French 2,000 Guineas winners battle it out to be top dog. Think Bellingham, Mbappe and Ronaldo – without the 18th century dress sense.

We’ve assembled our own star-studded attack of Ruby Walsh, Mick Fitzgerald, Matt Chapman, Jason Weaver and Paddy Power to steer you through the seven-race cards every day this week until Saturday.

So scroll down for their picks in our handy interactive cheat sheet or DOWNLOAD & share the PDF HERE for the best five days Flat racing in the world.

Docklands (each-way) looks a player to me in the opener. The straight track at Ascot suits him and he won last year’s Britannia Stakes here.

Mick Fitzgerald

Audience was a surprise winner of the Lockinge Stakes at Newbury and can go in again on this quicker ground.

Jason Weaver

CHARYN has definitely been an improved model this season and it was a super effort when running a clear second last time after the leader got a freebie up on the front end. It will be the fastest conditions he has encountered and the Roger Varian team feel he will improve thanks to the better ground.

Matt Chapman

Maljoom is interesting each-way for William Haggas but BIG ROCK is miles clear on ratings and while some will say he needs plenty of juice in the ground I’m not so sure. The French raider did this column a right touch in the QEII last season when romping clear and he has form on good ground and started off his early career on an artificial surface. Christophe Soumillon is a massive plus.

Paddy Power

CHARYN was the only one to get anywhere near  Audience in the Lockinge. He’s improving and can turn the tables now.

Ruby Walsh

Camille Pissarro impressed me at Navan but then just got chinned at the Curragh when fading in the last 75 yards. He can make amends now for Aidan O’Brien.

Mick Fitzgerald

Andesite knuckled down well to win on debut at York and the trainer is in red-hot form. Yah Mo Be There chased him home that day and can go well again.

Jason Weaver

CATALYSE was very dominant on his racecourse debut winning with a good bit in hand and also clocking a tidy 35 seconds for the final three furlongs up the hill at Hamilton. The new owners, Wathnan Racing, are triple-handed in this race and he is the selection of their retained jockey James Doyle.

Matt Chapman

I’m happy to stick with Aidan O’Brien and Ryan Moore on  CAMILLE PISSARRO, who cost a cool 1,250,000gns. Won well on debut at Navan and then battled to defeat in the Marble Hill at the Curragh. Better ground might help him see this out. I like the fact he’s had two starts for experience.

Paddy Power

The expensive Breeze-Up purchase CATALYSE made a big impression when winning on debut at Hamilton. He can repel the Irish raiders.

Ruby Walsh

A really competitive race where trainer Adrian Murray seems sweet on Valiant Force at a nice price. He won the Norfolk Stakes last year here so history may repeat itself.

Mick Fitzgerald

This will be a fast and furious 5f sprint where the Australian speedster Asfoora will be used to the hustle and bustle of this type of contest. Crucially, he’ll also be used to fast ground and that may count for a lot.

Jason Weaver

ROGUE LIGHTNING looked very rusty on his return at Haydock and was caught out a little bit out on the wing so never got into a real racing rhythm. He came home and hit the line strongly under ‘hands and heels riding’ and he’s going to be a big improver from that run.

Matt Chapman

TWILIGHT CALLS (each-way) for Ryan Moore and Henry Candy. This would mean so much to the latter, and while my hope is not a prolific winner and has yet to win above handicap company, he has finished second and fourth in this race. His comeback run this term was not a disgrace.

Paddy Power

The three-year-old BIG EVS was giving weight away when winning on his York reappearance and can prove too strong for the older brigade, headed by last year’s Sprint Cup winner Regional.

Ruby Walsh

It’s hard to see Henry Longfellow out of the money but the Newmarket 2,000 Guineas winner Notable Speech looks the best in the race. He impressed me at Newmarket.

Mick Fitzgerald

I fancy Richard Hannon’s Irish 2,000 victor Rosallion to reverse the form with his Newmarket conqueror, Notable Speech. He did well to win at the Curragh last time.

Jason Weaver

HENRY LONGFELLOW’s unbeaten run came to an end when he was beaten just over three lengths in France recently. It was a good performance considering he never saw any daylight and reports are that he is training like a champion.

Matt Chapman

NOTABLE SPEECH is the pick, but boy do I fear Henry Longfellow. The Godolphin runner was brilliant in the 2000 Guineas with Rosallion clearly seen off in second and he will love going around the bend here as he looked superb at Kempton. Everything is set for a huge run.

Paddy Power

NOTABLE SPEECH looks to have all the attributes of a top-class miler, with a high cruising speed and a sharp turn of foot. He can confirm his Newmarket 2,000 Guineas superiority over Irish 2,000 Guineas winner, Rosallion.

Ruby Walsh

I wouldn’t put anyone off Willie Mullins’ My Lyka whose a hard horse to get a handle on. He works lazily and should come forward from his last run at Killarney. He wears a first-time tongue tie too.

Mick Fitzgerald

Joseph O’ Brien’s Nusret (each-way) was a two-miler over jumps and with this being 2m 3f, it could pay to have a runner with a little bit of pace on your side.

Jason Weaver

ZANNDABAD was a massive eye-catcher at Chester recently who didn’t see any daylight until the race was over and he flew home. He surprisingly has only had a little 2lb nudge from the assessor and could still be very well weighted in this discipline over this extreme 2m 3f trip for the Flat code.

Matt Chapman

TRITONIC should give us an each-way run. Not so long ago he was winning a chase over jumps, but he was third in this race last year and he’s now 5lb lower. Two all-weather runs have been far from terrible and I’m sure he’s been lined up for this by Alan King and Rossa Ryan with the cheekpieces popped on.

Paddy Power

This extreme stamina test could be just the ticket for ZANNDABAD who shaped like the best horse at the weights when an eye-catching third in the Chester Cup and he could be the answer with William Buick aboard.

Ruby Walsh

I’d only be slightly tempted to have a small each-way wager on Mujtaba but this might be one I watch with a Pimm’s in my hand.

Mick Fitzgerald

The Gosdens’ Torito should handle fast conditions and ran well behind Waipiro here last season.

Jason Weaver

CHECKANDCHALLENGE (each-way) already has some very strong form to his name around this venue over a variety of distances. He never got involved up at the top level over in France last time where there was no pace for him to run at. He’s definitely going to fly under the radar in the market and rates a strong player.

Matt Chapman

I see no reason why we won’t get a huge each-way run from the wonderful old boy that is ASTRO KING. The former Cambridgeshire winner was a fine second in the Group 3 Earl of Sefton and was far from disgraced over 1m 4f recently.

Paddy Power

TORITO looked to finish with something in the tank when a promising third on his return at Newmarket last month and this lightly-raced four-year-old makes plenty of appeal.

Ruby Walsh

Willie Mullins saddles Belloccio who will have to be well ahead of the handicapper to win this. I’m slightly cautious and prefer Joseph O’Brien’s A Piece Of Heaven who is progressing at a rate of knots.

Mick Fitzgerald

Gavin Cromwell’s My Mate Mozzie (each-way) looks a player. He’s maybe better known as a National Hunt horse but looks to have solid claims to at least hit the frame.

Jason Weaver

As a half-brother to Baaeed, NAQEEB is always going to come with a bit of a following and something must’ve come to light after what was a ridiculously below-par effort when he tailed off last time in the Yorkshire Cup. He’d previously looked as if he was going to be a very decent Group-level performer and he now dips his toe back into handicap company.

Matt Chapman

It’s not impossible MY MATE MOZZIE (each-way) can hit the frame at least for Gavin Cromwell and Gary Carroll. The Galway Hurdle third will stay this distance well.

Paddy Power

BELLOCCIO needs to prove his effectiveness on ground faster than good but he has a very appealing mark and won last month at  Punchestown. over hurdles. Willie Mullins also won this contest 12 months ago too so you get my drift!
