18:05 – Paps Turf

Adrian Keatley’s PAP’S TURF wasn’t beaten far when last of four behind behind Electrolyte (runs in the Coventry at Royal Ascot this afternoon) at Ayr and the step up from six furlongs to seven will suit, so he can put his experience to good use in this novice. Four of the eight runners make their debuts here and market support for one of the newcomers would look significant, with Sundown Kid for John & Sean Quinn and Footwork for Charlie Johnston both likely types.

18:40 – Coppull Hall Lane

COPPULL HALL LANE attracted support beforehand and made a promising start to her career for Ed Bethell when runner-up to Jungle Land in a maiden at Redcar last month where the first three pulled clear, showing fairly useful form, and this looks a good opportunity for her to go one better. Few others make much appeal, but Voyeur came on a good deal for his debut when fifth at Chelmsford last time after being hampered and rates the main threat with further progress likely.

19:15 – Sunny Orange

SUNNY ORANGE has yet to score since making a winning debut at two for Ralph Beckett but, now with Tim Easterby, he went close off a career-low mark at Catterick ten days ago behind the in-form Without Delay and his turn doesn’t look far away. Gidwa responded well to a tongue strap when just denied at Wolverhampton last time and it’s still early days for him with Brian Ellison, while Port And Starburd was a good third over course and distance last time and she remains unexposed.

19:45 – Summit

David O’Meara’s three-year-old SUMMIT could kick on now she’s got her head in front and is taken to follow up last month’s Redcar success where she proved well suited by the return to a mile to land a fillies’ handicap. Four-time course-and-distance winner Poet’s Dawn, Puella Law, who landed the odds in a maiden here last time, and Running Star, who has cheekpieces on for the first time after a promising reappearance, are also considered in a wide-open handicap.

20:15 – Makalu

MAKALU has won at Southwell and Ripon for Ruth Carr this year and is probably still in good form as he couldn’t get a clear run when trying to make headway on his latest start back at Ripon. He could be the way to go therefore. Last year’s winner Josiebond, lower in the weights now, and another at the bottom of the handicap, Star of St James, who’s been runner-up in his last two starts including over course and distance last time, are a couple of the other likely contenders.

20:45 – Freddy Robinson

Brian Ellison’s FREDDY ROBINSON is still a maiden but he’s been shaping up well to make the frame in his two runs this year, finishing a never-nearer third at Pontefract last time, and gets the vote. Caramay made a successful return at Windsor and should be involved again from a 3 lb higher mark, while Regency Boy enters calculations if building on his fourth at Leicester on last month’s reappearance when blinkered for the first time.
