15:45 – Ghost Run

GHOST RUN has a smart pedigree – she’s a half-sister to listed winner Nymphadora – and shaped with promise when fifth on debut at Goodwood last month, looking as badly in need of the experience as any of the newcomers, but got the hang of things by the end. She looks set to progress with that outing under her belt and gets the vote over Alice Fairfax who offered something to work with when fourth on debut at Doncaster.

16:15 – Burdett

BURDETT took a significant step forward to land a big-field handicap at York last month with a bit to spare. He travelled well, made headway on the far wing over two furlongs out and, after hitting the front over a furlong out, he kept up to his work to score by a couple of lengths. He could have more to offer and remains fairly treated after a 6 lb rise in the weights, while the excellent form of the Jack Channon stable is also in his favour.

16:45 – Mezzo Soprano

MEZZO SOPRANO didn’t make it to the course until August in her three-year-old campaign but she rewarded the patience shown by connections by winning all three starts. She made short work of an attractive opening handicap when, last seen at Kempton in October and, with that form working out well, it’s unlikely a 6 lb rise in the weights will be enough to stop this unexposed filly making a winning return.

17:15 – Too Bossy For Us

TOO BOSSY FOR US improved from his juvenile efforts when an encouraging third over a mile on his reappearance at Kempton in March and he built on that promise to make a successful handicap debut over a mile and a quarter at Ascot last month. A steady gallop possibly masked his superiority, and this even longer trip, and likely stronger gallop, can bring further improvement from a stoutly-bred sort.

17:45 – Tatterstall

TATTERSTALL seemingly needed his comeback outing as he bounced back to form when third over this course and distance last month and then proved better than ever to run out as a dominant winner at Catterick last week. He showed good speed to dispute the lead in that one and readily asserted to beat a recent C&D winner by a couple of lengths. He’s in good order and a 7 lb rise in the weights may not be enough to stop him going well again.

18:15 – Letsbefrank

LETSBEEFRANK didn’t make the anticipated progress when upped in trip for his handicap debut at Musselburgh last month, but he showed improved form to get off the mark at Hamilton a couple of weeks ago. He was short of room in the final couple of furlongs but picked up well when the gap arrived 100 yards out and ran out as a length-and-a-quarter winner. He’s likely to carry on progressing and has plenty of stamina in his pedigree so should cope with this longer trip.

18:45 – Lettuce Leaf

LETTUCE LEAF stepped up on last season’s efforts when finishing third on her handicap debut and reappearance at Redcar last month, catching the eye with how she went through the race. Her effort flattened out close to home in the style of one likely to benefit from the run and she can raise her game here to get off the mark.
