14:00 – Rinnovati
There are a host in with chances in this handicap, but bottom-weight RINNOVATI has been knocking at the door so far this year, again just finding one rival too strong in first-time cheekpieces at Lingifeld last time, and she will remain of interest turned out quickly racing from the same mark. George Boughey saddles a couple of potential improvers heading into handicaps in Organic and Wahkan, so they rate as obvious dangers, with Salaamaat also worth a mention back on turf.
14:30 – Inherit
Sir Michael Stoute saddles a pair of superbly-bred Cheveley Park fillies in INHERIT and Santa Croce, who both showed ability on their debut in the autumn, and both can be expected to show a lot more this year. The former was the pick on looks beforehand at Sandown, though was carrying condition, so she could take a marked step forward now, and she shades the vote under Ryan Moore. There are plenty of interesting newcomers in opposition, though, headed by Swiss Cabaret and Sulala.
15:00 – Five Winds
FIVE WINDS remains a maiden, but has shown clear ability, not beaten far on her last three starts, and showed enough speed dropped to this trip at Leicester last time to suggest she’s up to winning races over this distance. The form of that race is working out well, the winner and the fourth both winning next time, so she makes a fair bit of appeal now racing from a 1 lb lower mark. Both Lilkian and Mokaatil arrive in good nick too so appeal as the duo to chase home Jack Jones’ low-mileage Adaay filly in that order.
15:30 – Gold Aura
GOLD AURA is a long-standing maiden, but she hasn’t been with this yard long, and she has looked at least as good as ever on her last two starts in all-weather handicaps. She ran well without improving over a mile and a half last time, though she lost her position around three furlongs out before staying on again. She remains potentially well treated and will remain a horse to be interested in at this sort of level. The handicapper hasn’t missed Baltic after his Doncaster success but Harry Charlton’s progressive sort could easily have more to offer and is feared most ahead of recent Brighton one-two Eljaytee and Kojin.
16:00 – Nap Hand
NAP HAND attracted support and overcame inexperience to make a winning debut over six furlongs at Salisbury two years ago and, while he hasn’t managed to win again since, he has shaped better than the bare result on more than one occasion. He finished his race well after taking a while to warm to his task on his return from an absence at Kempton three weeks ago, proving he retains his ability, and he will be very competitive if coming forward for that outing. Magic Memories is a big danger on the back of a positive effort at Sandown and Leuven Power isn’t without hope, either.
16:30 – Dashing Donkey
This doesn’t look a strong race and DASHING DONKEY is fancied to open his account. He shaped well on his handicap debut over this course and distance two starts back and shaped as though something was amiss when well supported at Brighton last week. It is encouraging he’s turned out quickly and is expected to take advantage of this drop in class. Keen Interest is a player, too, while Tenyatta could be involved with a better start.
