These claimers are rarely straightforward. The forecast rain bodes well for heavy-ground maiden winner DOCTOR NIGHTINGALE and she gets a tentative nod. Clever Currency won’t mind too much what the weather does and he appeared in good nick prior to struggling in a competitive handicap at Punchestown. A good few others have chances.
18:00 Wetherby – Lesleys Boy
This looks the stronger of the two divisions. The betting should be revealing as far as the newcomers are concerned but Tees Aggregates, Inertia, Hickton (second choice) and LESLEYS BOY have all shown promise. The latter ran better than the distance beaten would indicate at York last month and can put that experience to good use.
19:00 Wethery – John L Sullivan
Atlantic Gamble, the only winner in the field, commands respect for that alone and he may build on his recent AW success. There are other runners of interest, though, notably JOHN L SULLIVAN, who stayed on for second in a C&D handicap six weeks ago that represents particularly strong form. Jez Bomb, Mist Rollin In and Ribble River (second choice) also come into the reckoning.
19:15 Sligo – I Am Spider Man
Having lost his chance when hampered at Ballinrobe last time, I AM SPIDER MAN could make up for that and score today. Hypersonic Missile should appreciate this shorter trip after running out of steam over further at Punchestown. Getabelle was a big improver when last seen but will have to be primed on return.
19:45 Sligo – Flicker Of Hope
A rapidly improving sort, FLICKER OF HOPE has a tougher task in pursuit of a hat-trick off an 8lb higher mark but could well be up to it. True or False is also up 7lb for her Ballinrobe win on return but could also be improving. Lovely Reaction has been in good form but this is faster ground than she has encountered lately. Joya Del Mar might improve for this trip.
20:30 Wetherby – Marching Mac
A maiden handicap in all but name. With further progress a possibility, Brighton runner-up MARCHING MAC is taken to go one better. Berry Clever (second choice) and Louella are other solid-looking contenders on recent form, while Chatty is interesting and Savvy Warrior also has possibilities.
