13:50 Haydock – Live In The Dream

ITV Racing Saturday comes from Haydock and Beverley and gets under way here with the Listed Achilles Stakes over 5f. Nunthorpe hero LIVE IN THE DREAM really should be able to blast away from his lot and give weights away to his rivals. The Adam West-trained stable star returned this term with a decent second to Kerdos in the Temple Stakes at this track and the ground will be better here which will be a massive benefit to a horse that is all about speed. Tye only slight worry is that outside Tees Spirit is a natural front-runner as well and Sean Kirrane will just want to make sure he doesn’t get booked up in a speed battle.

14:05 Beverley – Larchill Lass (each-way)

ITV coverage from Beverley starts with this conditions race for two-year-old fillies over 5f. LARCHILL LASS is already exposed after three runs but went the right way with a win at Carlisle last time and at the very least might give us a run for our money here. What I like most about her is that she has crucial track form. What I like least is the draw in stall 15 so I’ll chance just a little each-way.

14:25 Haydock – Knightswood (each-way)

Here’s a handicap over 1m4f. This looks wide open. KNIGHTSWOOD was a real eye catcher last time and looks over priced for Joe Fanning and Charlie Johnston. This trip and ground are ideal and the handicap mark looks workable after that third at Doncaster when he didn’t get a clear run repeatedly from 2f out. In the end he did well to get where he was and while he’s no certainty to back that effort up after a flop previously at Newmarket I still feel he should have a great each-way chance.

14:40 Beverley – Moving Force

Now the Two-Year-Old Trophy over 5f. Hard to know what will happen here with the Wathnan newcomer Shareholder quite possible very useful. Experience, though, counts for something and MOVING FORCE looked as though he would improve plenty for a run when winning from off the pace at this track on debut. The half-brother to Listed placed New Definition will know more this time and clearly has some talent.

15:00 Haydock – Night Sparkle (each-way)

Up in class here for the Group 3 Lester Piggott Fillies’ Stakes over 1m4f. A huge field and most desperate for Black Type as not many of these are worthy Group 3 horses. NIGHT SPARKLE stays well and has been progressive other than a flop at Doncaster which could easily be put down to soft ground – despite being an Irish import to the Andrew Balding stable she has usually run on a good surface. The second on seasonal debut to Term Of Endearment at York was a fine effort and Kevin Stott has a chance to race from close to the pace and kick on. An each-way selection in a tough race.

15:15 Beverley – On The River (each-way)

A handicap over nearly 1m. A tough contest. Not many of these are strong at this trip. For that reason although he ran flat last time I’ll give ON THE RIVER another chance for Harriet Bethell who is going well and Cam Hardie. The draw is good and despite that bad effort at Nottingham he looked progressive in two previous outings at Pontefract. An each-way poke.

15:35 Haydock – Witch Hunter

Now the main event of the day in the Group 3 John O’Gaunt over 7f. Loads of pace on here with Flight Plan and Pogo in the field and that means WITCH HUNTER has a great chance for the excellent Sean Levey and Richard Hannon combination. The Lockinge third is a pretty useful horse on his best days and the set up here is ideal for a closer. He won over 7f in the Hungerford at Newbury last year.

So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?
