17:28 Haydock – Sisterandbrother

Last year’s winner Unplugged isn’t arriving in the same kind of form, so the suggestion is to focus elsewhere. The Wolverhampton regulars Clifftop Heaven and Virtual Hug make the shortlist, while it’s also possible to make a reasoned case for My Harrison George in newly applied cheekpieces. However, the preferred option is SISTERANDBROTHER, who was a close third at Doncaster last week.

17:20 Clonmel – Zolpharine

With a rating of 122 over fences, this looks a good opportunity for Walnut Beach but he can be a little bit of a monkey and probably should have won more races than he has. A chance is taken on chasing debutant ZOLPHARINE whose half-sister was a smart chaser for John Ryan and he could make them all go if he gets into a rhythm towards the front end. Two decent hurdlers that have had long absences are Bua Boy and Sawbuck and the former should be sharper for his recent return in a decent novice chase at Wexford.

17:45 Bath – Neptune Legend

Front-runner We’re Reunited’s previous turf wins both came here in early summer, once for cheekpieces being reapplied, and he’s better drawn this time. He should go well, with drying conditions in his favour, but preference is for NEPTUNE LEGEND, who won in first-time blinkers last autumn and again for them going back on in February. Stamina is the worry with Zing Up from the outside stall, while maiden Midnight Flame has too many short-priced convictions for comfort.

18:05 Goodwood – Night Breeze

Pink Lily is unraced here and has only won going the other way round, but other than that she’s a strong contender in her current form. Lunario is another going well at present but NIGHT BREEZE wasn’t far off the latter at Bath and he’s up in trip this time which looks a good fit. Fascinating Lips also enters the picture.

19:15 Bath – Russian Rumour

Taritino escapes a penalty for his eased-down win at Chepstow but he’s untested at this trip and slight preference is for C&D winner RUSSIAN RUMOUR, who is only 2lb higher than for her brave success at Nottingham on her return last month. Whispering Royal looks a possible improver on his step up to 1m6f and he needs watching in the market, while others to consider are De Vega’s Warrior and Myriad.

19:28 Haydock – Ananda

An interesting race with three promising 3yos locking horns with some well-handicapped older sprinters. Cuban Melody (second choice) and Thursday’s Child are both greatly respected but ANANDA might have their measure. The Gosden-trained filly was promising as a 2yo and her return to action last month, when far too free early, should have taken the freshness out of her. The winner there is extremely promising and the selection can make a winning handicap debut with the addition of a hood looking a good move.

19:42 Fairyhouse – Elsas Pride

There was plenty of promise in ELSAS PRIDE‘s reappearance run and with the step up in trip sure to suit on quicker ground, she looks worth chancing. Tasayad hinted at a return to form at Leopardstown last month and Ifitwasme may appreciate getting back on a quicker surface.

20:10 Goodwood – Skysail

Just eight runners go but it’s open. SKYSAIL has run his two best races (including a C&D success) when fitted in new headgear but he’s still interesting after being gelded, especially having won after a lengthy break in the past. Cabinet Of Clowns is entitled to step up on his comeback run and he could be the danger, along with One Step Beyond and Botas.

20:30 Clonmel – Corkbeg

A dual hurdle winner, including at this track, CORKBEG gave enough encouragement in a Tramore beginners’ last week to get the nod on handicap debut. Onefortheditch won a point last time and is interesting on her hurdles form. Definiteadare, Coco Lightning and Inchidaly Copper can run well.
