14:00 – New Charter

The 6f Woodcote Stakes kicks off proceedings on Epsom Oaks day where NEW CHARTER can go one better than her debut second to Mountain Breeze at Newmarket just under a fortnight ago. She’s from the same family as Time Charter who won the Fillies’ Classic at this venue in the 1990’s and should handle Epsom’s notorious undulations which don’t suit everyone.

14:35 – Orbaan

Epsom handicap regular ORBAAN looks a bit of value with Silvestre De Sousa booked to ride. He’s finished placed in the last two editions of this contest and races off a similar mark of 85 this time.

He posted a good run at Ayr last time when third to Kelpie Grey.

15:10 – Emily Upjohn

The Coronation Cup is the first Group 1 contest of the two days and EMILY UPJOHN sets the standard. She’s best known for stumbling at the start of the 2022 Epsom Oaks losing many lengths before battling back to just getting chinned a short-head by Ryan Moore on Tuesday. She won this contest last year on good to firm ground but the slower ground shouldn’t be against her now.

15:45 – Liberty Lane

A 10f handicap where LIBERTY LANE can continue his ascension through the ranks after a smooth success at Newmarket last time. He disappointed in the Lincoln at Doncaster but reportedly scoped badly so we can ignore that run. Soft ground and a test of stamina should help now and the Karl Burke yard is in flying form after their 1,000 Guineas success at the weekend with Fallen Angel.

16:30 – Ylang Ylang / Ezeliya (each-way)

We can expect the ground to be on the slow side for the Fillies’ Classic and that should suit YLANG YLANG for Aidan O’Brien and Ryan Moore. She’s a very good filly who got outpaced over 1m in the 1,000 Guineas on seasonal debut but should be sharper now for this 1m 4f test. She doesn’t need to improve too much in her form, she just needs to handle the track and if she does will take a lot of beating. Dermot Weld’s EZELIYA was a good winner at Navan last time, beating Purple Lily who finished fifth in the Irish 1,000 Guineas on Sunday. She handles soft ground and could be one for each-way backers.
