Horse Racing Tips: Mick Fitzgerald’s ITV Racing fancies at Epsom on Saturday

Mick is sweet on Los Angeles in the Derby at 16:30 as he doesn't rate City Of Troy's chances.

13:25 – Bubbles Wonky

The booking of William Buick for the lightly-raced Tim Easterby runner Bubbles Wonky catches my eye. His trainer must feel he’s got a workable handicap mark to send him down South. He was second to Monfrid at Catterick who has run well since at Goodwood.

14:00 – Chic Colombine

Chic Colombine ran a little disappointingly in the French 1,000 Guineas but it shows how highly connections regard her. The George Boughey yard is in better form now too and the drop in class to Group 3 company can see her get competitive at a sporting price.

14:35 – Regal Reality

Sir Michael Stoute has had three winners from six runners in the past few weeks and Regal Reality won this contest last year. His recent run at Chester should see him fighting fit and he’s versatile regarding ground conditions.

15:10 – Due For Luck

Things didn’t quite work out for Due For Luck last time at Chester on seasonal debut when third to Knicks in a three-way photo finish. He’s drawn in stall 19 and looks a worthy market leader in what is a very open three-year-old sprint.

15:45 – Clarendon House

The 5f dash is one of the most spectacular sprint races of the season. Clarendon House looked really good when winning at York last time and ran well in this contest last year. He got a 6lb penalty for that victory but he can justify it now.

16:30 – Los Angeles

The Epsom Derby is one of the highlights of the Turf Flat season worldwide and Aidan O’Brien’s record in it speaks for itself. If the 2,000 Guineas flop City Of Troy was trained by anyone else it would be a 20/1 shot to redeem himself over this 1m 4f trip but O’Brien did it with Auguste Rodin last year and will need to do it again now. I can’t see it happening to be honest and much prefer his unbeaten stablemate Los Angeles who won at Leopardstown on seasonal debut. He can lead home Godolphin’s Ancient Wisdom, Macduff at a nice price each-way and the Lingfield Derby trial winner Ambiente Friendly.
